Didn’t want to go but I did it anyway

Had a really rubbish nights sleep with a poorly tummy waking me 3 times and finally woke at 9.30 when my eldest unlocked the front door. “just popped round to collect some tools for work” he shouted up the stairs and was gone again, banging the door shut behind him. I have never managed to teach that one to shut doors rather than bang them behind him. As he’s 43 now I don’t suppose I ever will.

I hate being woken up much preferring to drift gently to the surface of my own accord so I swanned downstairs in my dressing gown and made a coffee and a bowl of ready brek and then remembered today was a run day. So I ended up procrastinating with my iPad and Mahjong Journey until about 11.30, then I noticed the weather had cleared slightly and I suddenly made my mind up and went upstairs to get my running gear on.

Once out the door it seemed a bit brighter than earlier and I thought “ nice little recovery 5k to shake the kinks out of my legs after my 10k on Wednesday” and set off whistling away to the tracks in the warmup walk. I’d taken my snap band sunnies ( that my lovely daughter bought for me) and as it brightened up still more I was quite glad I had. I managed a good 2 1/2k before the light misty drizzle started but then it stayed with me all the rest of the way. Once I got to where I couldn’t see out of my sunnies for rain, I snapped them onto my non-Garmin wrist and carried on. Brilliant idea they are!!!

Nothing very eventful on today’s run except for some reason I suddenly seemed to be flying on the last 2k and just slowed back to average in the last 1/2k. Don’t know what that sudden burst of speed was or where it came from but it was nice. And I’m really glad I ventured out after all.

No Park Run for me tomorrow as I am taking my door-banging son out for the day for a belated birthday lunch in Exeter( and a bit of retail therapy too I expect). Then I expect I’ll be dodging the showers again on Sunday for my next run.

Blimey, you did really well considering you were up three times in the night. That ReadyBrek must be quite something!
