A few weeks ago, I was challenged to train for a 10k. Runanniversiary from starting C2k is this week too. So I started the Magic 10k plan and am at the end of week 3. Yesterday the 7k run was on the plan.
Faffed about for about 40 minutes at home. Then gave myself a stern talking to, and started out. 1/2k in, realised I'd forgotten my water bottle and phone. Ran home, collected them and ran out again. Arrrgh.
I live in a rural area with quiet, but narrow roads. Generally the only hazards are loose dogs, and at one house, I have to out run the geese who chase me up the road. πββοΈ
At mile 3, a 'lovely' woman came tearing round a blind bend and nearly wiped me out. She was so close, I could have reached in and changed gear for her. I think my heart rate doubled!
At the 6k mark I thought I'd see if I could push the pace. Legs and face were on fire, snot running out of my nose, sweat stinging my eyes.π₯΅ Made it though!
And for good measure, an hour later, I volunteered to run with our new C25K group to help with timing. (Luckily, they're on week 1). It was good to ease the legs out. And in a perverse way, watching the new intake puff their way through running for 1 minute helped me realise how far I'd come in 12 months since my own week 1.
I still need to learn to pace myself for long runs. And maybe carry a flashing light on my head to avoid getting run over. Plus, have a tick list of things to do, so I don't leave stuff behind π€£π€£
