Ok, so I've completed C25K and I have my sights set on 10k.
I've been looking at some 10k training programmes. I've seen the BUPA 8 week plan, which looks good, and I think I've seen Ju-Ju's 8 week plan.. So I'm intending to sort of mix them up a bit, because I want to include Parkrun and some hill training.
So basically this is just hello. π€π
But I do have a question... Is this the plan people are following here?
Yes, although you donβt have to be following JuJuβs plan to be here, just working a your way across that bridge! Also, there is a more recent version which has timed alternatives to get you from 30mins to 60mins. There is a 5k each week to help incorporate parkrun, too. I am a very slow runner so started on timed and switched across to distance along the way, when it felt right. Have a look in the pinned posts for the current version. Good luck!
As suggested look at the latest bridge pinned posts.
The pinned posts by Mentor IDT,for post C25k, great also.
Good luck with your consolidation and plans.
Other stuff that you maybe aware of and is helpful, on Marathon, Pete Magill link by Abi, 3 stepping stones podcasts by Laura, including speed and stamina.
Google Get Fit in 6mins, 25 video on mitochondria renewal with sprinting / intervals.
Hello! Congratulations on your graduation... you'll find lots of familiar faces here.
I'm broadly following Ju-Ju's plan, yes, though much less strictly than I did C25k. I've sort of got the 10% rule in the back of my mind too, so if I want to go a bit further I know where to draw the line.
Thanks Pianism! Well I definitely recognize you π... Hope you get those trainers sorted.
Well, I've been looking around at different programmes and they all have similarities, the main thing seems to be an 'easy' long run once a week, gradually building up... So room to experiment I think. π€
Absolutely. My weekly schedule is Parkrun, one longer run and one shorter run where I try something different. On the shorter run I've done the C25K stamina and stepping stones podcasts and various of the Nike run Club runs. Sometimes I've just run 30 minutes as I didn't feel I wanted anything different. I'm working my way round to doing hills and fartleks on my shorter run too but have been chickening out lol
Welcome Hidden . I did Ju-juβs plan. You can make the shorter run an interval or hilly run to change things up a bit, if you want to follow one plan. That is what I did and it worked well but you can follow any plan and still be a part of this great forum. Find what works for you and share your journey with us π
Thanks Sask! Yes that's what I had in mind, I desperately need to do some hill running, really struggling on them at the moment π. Thanks for the warm welcome, I've got the popcorn ready for your next post. πΏπ
Congratulations on your graduation and welcome ! After consolidation , I just extended one run per week by 0.5-1.0k, while continuing to run a 5k and parkrun - worked for me!
Yes that's very similar to what I'm intending to do. I do enjoy sprints and hill training though, so I'm trying to find a way to throw some of those in there without exhausting myself... I'm just going to experiment, see how it goes.
