Which app did you download for 5 - 10k? I ended up giving up with the one I had (10k Runner) and basically following a version of Ju Ju's magic plan and gradually working up to 10k on my own programme. I use Nike Run Club as my distance/time tracker and it gives me the pace and distance every km, that proved enough for me.

You could do our own JuJu’s plan which you can find here.
Or, in the ancient days before we had this many of us did our own thing. Three runs a week, 1x 5K, 1x faster shorter day 3/4K or hills and 1x longer slower run adding a kilometre each week. Keep the weekly total increase less than 10% and reduce your mileage every third week to help your muscles recover.
Whatever you choose, enjoy it and try to cross train on rest days 🙂

I'm currently using the 5k to 10k from Active 10, I don't think this is the one you're using, but I'm not sure. I've only run once with it so far, but the prompts to start/stop running and when I've reached half time are clear. The only thing it doesn't do is give me pace/ time updates. Maybe give it a try if you've not already?
