Hi guys !! Just a quick question here , has anybody tried using, "voodoo bands" on their strained muscles ie calves, to aid recovery ? Lot of professionals on 'youtub' advocate their use!! Reason I ask, is that my calf pain re- occurred today 2.5K in to a 5K run , after having had time out for four days !! Bearing in mind I have religiously practiced lunges , squats and calf raises plus planks and bridges , for 2-3 months , Im getting frustrated and beginning to lose the joy of running !! I stretch those little beauties 'fanatically' , every day ,massage them and even speak to them nicely !! My next move is to incorporate bouncing up and down on the spot making sure to land mid foot kissing the floor lightly with the heel to improve my running cadence, loosen up my ankles and eliminate my propensity to strike with my fore foot .

Calf pain is always central and slightly below mid point ! Sorry to go on some what ,but I feel this needs to be put to bed now - not really in a position financially to consult a physio at present !!

Hi! When I went to a sport ostheopath a few years ago when I first had a knee problem i asked him about the coloured sellotaping... he said you are too young to do tricks like that, let’s fix you. After thinking about it I agreed with him. Maybe it’s something that will help you when you do your race but otherwise I would try and work iut the reason for your pain with a professional and mend it. One of my friends sees a running coach and someone like that might be able to see a small thing you do wrong which might cause this pain?

Also if it’s lower calf it could be achilles so do the step exercises and look online for more of them. There are some suggestions by a physio

I think you can cause more problems if you stretch an injured muscle - it needs time to heal. Perhaps try not doing any extra exercises for a week and see if the injury heals? I have had calf problems (both sides) and I eased off the effort (e.g had extra rest days and ran slowly/carefully) and they did heal. Hope things clear up for you soon.
