For the run/walkers. Result of my physio yesterday

For the run/walkers out there

I had my physio yesterday and we did a spot of gait analysis to see if we could find out what was causing my hamstring to hurt as it wasn't as healed as it should be from the last three weeks of stretches and Strength work.

I did my Race Walk first and was told I have very good form, all correct. He then upped the pace on the treadmill and I started to run, that was all good too. He kept watching he said there is nothing there that is pulling your hamstring. So the next thing was to make sure I was doing my exercises correctly, he slowed the treadmill down and I transitioned into a walk and bang there it was the pain in the hamstring,

Apparently I overstretch in the right leg when I come out of my run and that is what is causing the overuse pain. It is not injured but it is very niggly and the longer the distance the more times in a run I will do it leading to the whole hamstring getting very tired.

I have to consciously shorted my cadence as I transition and that might make things feel a bit easier.

I just thought I would share this with any run/walkers out there as it is sometimes the little things we don’t think about we have to watch out for.

Happy running

Rfc x

O great news from you, so glad that you enjoyed your 17K run today, onwards and upwards for your next half marathon coming soon, I think you will do very well indeed and with the help of your physio you may even have a PB. 😊 🏃
