Amazing people, amazing atmosphere, absolutely mezmerizing. Was sorely tempted to put in for the ballot when it was announced just now, had to sit on my hands so as not to pick up the iPad and log on...but with a sore right ITB from just doing a 10K perhaps it would be a step too far. Probably?????
Happy running everyone.

I also gave been watching it on TV, not the main channel but the runners coming in at the finishing line, it's on the Red Button, with the time, the screen is split into 4 parts, if I have the sound up, you can hear the spectators congratulating the runners, the most common two words I hear are WELL DONE. π π
You have a long time to think about it Gran4z; who knows what next year will bring? I couldn't run a year ago today! Just off for my mandatory slow 5k after my intervals spectacle! Hope my legs have are listening. πππ
It is called JogRunSprint, an iPhone app which Dexy5 told me about; warning this app could be life changing...legs develop a mind of their own. It is really simple, and free. It just times a series of 30 second jog, 20 second run and 10 second sprint. You can set the number of repeats you want to do. It also builds in 2 minute walks, but I just slowly jog through them. I took it slowly on the first attempt and added a bit of oomph second time around...as in every new thing, taking it carefully is the key.π
I got it too, from the same post, and itβs really easy to use. Just be sure youβre really well warmed up - the intervals are more testing than it looks like at first - at least for me! π€ͺ
Ooh Granspeed, JogRunSprint can change your life. Think of the first time as a rehearsal. Jog is really slow, run is parkrun pace, sprint is go for it greyhound. Have fun.
Great, I will check it out - and warning appreciated! Mind you I think my legs already have minds of their own, they keep getting out of bed in the morning long before Iβm at all ready or keen to follow π.
Didnβt it look like the best fun ever? I know a marathon is way beyond my capabilities ...... but to be able to take part in an event like that must be fabulous. β€οΈ
I had a friend running it for the first time today. I canβt wait to hear how she got on! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈ
But the thing is...is it beyond us? When we started C25k we could hardly run 60s, and now lots of us do 10K. So is it really beyond our abilities π? My right leg says no...but with care, good training, physio, cross training maybe we could. What do you think?
Enter the ballot. Build up to a half over the next 6 months. When you find out if youβre in, in October, youβll be in a great position to go up to full if needs be.
Most people donβt get in but fingers crossed π€π½
I have my first 10k race next weekend. Iβll see how I get on running in a massive crowd - if I come back all elated, I might just enter! (And Iβm pretty sure I will! π )
Iβm typing this thinking how bonkers that sounds, but I have to admit it looked utterly amazing today. Can you imaging how it would feel running in that iconic race? π
Btw, my friend did it in 4hr 2mins. Sheβs over the moon!
I did 10K on at the Brighton Marathon weekend. My first, was amazing...anxious before, worried about the crowd, not the running...that was O.K. except for the boring ITB strain.
So good luck with the 10K next week...but the ballot closes on 3rd May so better go for it now!! Think I shall! Must be bonkers!
Seems like we've all lost the plot simultaneously πππ, we've all gone and entered the London Marathon 2020! This is totally bonkers π³. Fun though!
Theyβre a great cause to run for - hereβs to all those πππππ Iβve been running for them a long time now, and I know they are very appreciative π. Happy running π»
I watched my sister run it a few years ago and spectating was amazing so cant imagine the buzz you get running. Go for it ππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈππ»ββοΈ#believe
Really...well I'm going for it! Signed up for the ballot. That's 3 of us this evening, Sandraj39, Cheekychipmunks and me! How about you? You could join us. It's fun...possibly π
If you watch the elite start, there's a young man in pink shorts running with the top guys for the first mile. He's my sons housemate. He set a marathon pb of 2.33 and got himself on the telly!
