Christmas Eve is usually a quiet time in the BC household. Wrapping of last minute presents (everything I buy!!), eating the odd mince pie and savouring the smell of various delicacies cooking in the kitchen. A period of comparative peace before people emerge over the next couple of days, wanting to be fed and entertained. They are all welcome of course, but the pre Christmas anticipation is a special time.
I was reflecting on my running year which started with a first 10k last Boxing Day and gathered pace with a 10 mile and then a HM run and my first 10k race. It is ending well too, with my first run with my younger son yesterday, up the hills to give him something new to contend with. So all was well in my corner of the world.
Then my serenity was disturbed by a thought. I had made a commitment to sign up to a 2020 race in the Deep South where VRBs may be running. This was promoted by Dexy5 . Before I knew it, after a brief consultation with Mrs BC, I had signed up for the Vitality 10000 on 25 May. My fingers did the job with minimum input from my brain. Hence the "what have I just done?" title! I haven't remotely thought it through, except that I know that I will not be on holiday!! It would be really great to see VRB's there though! It will be two days after my second runniversary, so the timing is good. Christmas greetings to all. ๐
