Christmas Eve is usually a quiet time in the BC household. Wrapping of last minute presents (everything I buy!!), eating the odd mince pie and savouring the smell of various delicacies cooking in the kitchen. A period of comparative peace before people emerge over the next couple of days, wanting to be fed and entertained. They are all welcome of course, but the pre Christmas anticipation is a special time.
I was reflecting on my running year which started with a first 10k last Boxing Day and gathered pace with a 10 mile and then a HM run and my first 10k race. It is ending well too, with my first run with my younger son yesterday, up the hills to give him something new to contend with. So all was well in my corner of the world.
Then my serenity was disturbed by a thought. I had made a commitment to sign up to a 2020 race in the Deep South where VRBs may be running. This was promoted by Dexy5 . Before I knew it, after a brief consultation with Mrs BC, I had signed up for the Vitality 10000 on 25 May. My fingers did the job with minimum input from my brain. Hence the "what have I just done?" title! I haven't remotely thought it through, except that I know that I will not be on holiday!! It would be really great to see VRB's there though! It will be two days after my second runniversary, so the timing is good. Christmas greetings to all. π

Thanks CC. Happy Christmas and New Year to you and yours! Great that you are running it too. After making a resolution I had to deliver! I just decided to book it rather than think about it! π
It's amazing what our fingers do...I find mine do that too! I'm doing a virtual race in March, then the Brighton 10k in April. I'm sure my brain thinks that's really mad!
I entered the ballot for the London marathon π, didn't get in - phew!! Did get the lovely warm winter top so worth it! Happy Christmas to you and yours πππ
Wow Beachcomber66, I threw out the bait and you snatched it! That is great news and UTS and I are so pleased. We will discuss arrangements by PM in 2020. I winder who else will do it?.
We are spending our first Christmas Eve with just the two of us, before meeting family tomorrow . Have a great time with your family. And happy runny new year.
Nice bit of angling! I decided that it was time to just go for it and leave th thinking until later. Cheeky is signed up so we have a flying start. As you say details can wait. Hope you both have a great Christmas and New Year.π
Cheers goforitmama. I am a booze free zone these days I am afraid, so I haven't got that excuse, more is the pity! After years of having to make very considered judgements it is great to be a bit gung ho!π
Ooh I just looked into it - luckily for you all Iβm doing Edinburgh half the day before so canβt join you! Youβll have a blast. We really ought to arrange a VRB meet up up here!
I must have a word with Mr Sandie and see if we can delay our departure to France. Iβd love to do it too! May have to employ all my females wiles π
Well done, great to have something to aim for. I've signed up for my first 10k in May too, probably as far from yours as can be while still on mainland Britain - look up location of Durness. Happy running and a very merry Christmas
