Hello my lovelies, hope you're all doing well and enjoying this beautiful sunshine?? How lucky are we that we can do something we love outside?? It's been a while since I posted but I have been lurking and keeping up with events and I've also been plodding...managed to get to w7r3 today...a 9k...but GUESS WHAT???? The sun made me do it...honestly...I have, AT LONG LAST, completed a 10k run....!!!
I parked up in my local garden centre carpark with no route in mind so I set off and let my legs do the deciding...well, it was a lovely route...mostly downhill to start but then the flat of the river..over the bridge and through the town....I haven't run this route before so didn't realise how long it was...I stuck to the main roads as I find I don't stop as much...after 6k I knew the rest would have to be up hill...so I dug deep, only 3 small ones to go, surely that can't be so bad?? Huh...it was tough...but I dug deeper and deeper...the sun was blazing down and my long sleeved top became a short one as I popped into the hairdressers where I used to work and asked them to cut my sleeves off!! I was thinking of Sadie-runs documentary she suggested about Fiona oates, such an inspiration and especially to me, running with one kneecap is hard...and she was with me this whole run...what a woman??!!! By the time I got to 8k I was bushed but something told me to keep going...you've got this Bev..I stopped and gave my legs a talking to...come on girls...only one more to go then we are done...but at 9k I just felt like I wanted/needed to carry on...it was uphill and as tired as I was I kept going...like an old banger I kept going....so now, I can tell you all that you are now looking at a 10k graduate!!!! I am so excited...I jumped up & punched the air, just like I did when I graduated c25k...this has been like the longest pregnancy ever and now the baby is here....I have been chasing this 10k for yonks and now it's happened!! I had tears in my eyes when my garmin said 10k and I carried on running just a couple of hundred meters more just to make sure...I got back to my car a different person, I know I can run, I'm not fast but I can run..I'm happy with my pace, once I find it, I stick to it, I have a whole new side to me, one that only running brings out in me...I was thinking of all of you especially those of you who have been by my side since day one...you know who you are...you have all helped me more than you know...
My knees are aching, my ankles are aching, my thighs, even my little toe but I'm having a glass of wine to celebrate....and I am raising a glass to all of you too...because you're all amazing and I wouldn't have managed today without you...Xxxx happy Friday everyone...
MC a 10k runner....
Oscars speech over....sniffle.. xx please can I have my badge??? I will polish it every day I promise...

Mamacav!! I knew youβd do it sometime. Congratulations to you reaching 10k, and you deserve to be celebrating π₯³. Whoo hoo!! And 77 minutes is what I and Oldfloss s did it in. Yay!!!
...I have persevered for so long and worked up to it for what seems like forever but I knew today was the day...the sun was out and the day was just perfect x and I'm in good company with my time xx
Whoohoo!!!!! I am cheering from the rafters for you! Youβve worked so hard to get here and you nailed it. I can just see you popping into the salon and chopping your sleeves off! Classic!
Enjoy that well earned glass of wine, graduate π·!
Awww thanks Sask, you are an inspiration to me and no doubt so many others...I have wanted this 10k for so long and I am finally there...yes it's taken some time and I'm.not the best example but I got there in the end...sleeveless too!! Haha xxx
What a great run, quite tricky with the heat and hills, but your true yorkshire grit saw you dig deep and make the distance! So well done!π
This is when you may need to think about foam rollers or a massage stick for those muscles... and take some water as well as that bubbly to help them recover...
Thankyou so much, for everything Bluebirdrunner ....you are always the first to cheer me on, without fail x
I am def going to invest in a foam roller and I drank gallons of water yesterday and I think that will be the drink of the day today too! Thank you again Jan, woo, what a journey?! Xx
Congratulations Bev on running your first 10K, yes you should be very proud of yourself, as in C25K to get your graduation B210K badge and the word GRADUATE10 next to your username leave a message on the March graduate10 pinned posts on the right side of the healthunlocked B210K March Healthunlocked home page and tell the administrators that you have ran your first 10K, once again well done. π π π
Thanks Teacherm ....I donβt know where I got the energy for that last few kms but 10k has been in there for some time now just waiting to be set free! My glass of wine went down a treat! X
This was a super run and very, very well done you... and the time you did it in.. is the time of champions...as Dexy5 has already said x
You have worked so so hard for this and had a lot to contend with en route... which makes the victory sweeter... On your way to new adventures now my friend
Thank you so much Oldfloss , you have been an inspiration to me since I landed here a couple of years ago...and without this runderful forum I think Iβd have packed in. I am just so happy that itβs happened, Iβm going to have a couple of extra rest days then who knows what Iβll be up to?! Looking forward to wearing my badge with pride xxx
Look at that shiny badge - you've earned it! I did my 10K very recently and it has reinvigorated me as far as running is concerned. What are you going to do next?? The world is your oyster! πββοΈπββοΈπββοΈπ
Thanks Berksrover , always there on the sidelines arenβt you? I can hear you cheering me on! If you havenβt seen the documentary of Fiona Oakes, you should try watch it, sheβs amazing and when my leg was grumbling, I just thought of her and kept going x
Mummycav , really a 'Like' is totally insufficient for this post... I 'Love' this! So very happy for you that you've done this - & loved too, your descriptive post! Sadly I have been missing all this beautiful weather; I thought I'd hurt my glute, then thought it was actually my hamstring, & finally realised it my sciatic nerve... 2 months of not running, but it is slowly getting better... Will be starting back soon with some very slow, short runs... ah well... I'll join you on that podium some day! Congratulations again! xxx
Aw SuzyKK , you are such an avid supporter! Iβm sorry youβre missing the sunshine but hopefully it wonβt be for long now you know what it causing your troubles, taking it nice and slowly with gentle runs sounds like a plan...and I will be there to cheer you on when you are climbing up on the podium with me, I will give you a hand up and happily stand side by side with you xxx
Thanks Jell6 , itβs truly exciting isnβt it?! Iβm still on a high, my smile is still as big too!...and now Iβve got my badge!!! What a cracking weekend?! When I left the house I didnβt really have a clue where I was going to run either so it was completely unexpected x
Whoop whoop πΎπππ₯πββοΈπββοΈπͺ thatβs brilliant mummycav! Many congratulations and very well done. Iβm so thrilled for you.
Congratulations and well done Mummycav. Iβm so pleased for you and really enjoyed reading your post. I especially liked the part where you asked the hairdresser to cut your sleeves off πππ Genius!
This is like the best news EVER!!!! MC , you thoroughly deserve that badge! You've stuck at it through thick and thin, had a wobble or two, but not let it get the better of you... found your grit, carried on, pushed through and got there.... and rather easily by the sounds of it - hills and all! Bet it feels a-ma-zing. Well bloody done you 10K runner you!! xxx
Thankyou Fishypieface , Miss youβre entertaining posts but I know youβre always lurking and checking whatβs going on...and when you first appeared on here I canβt tell you how inspiring your story was to me...you have got guts and determination too and I think some of that rubbed off on me!! Xxx
I have become a lurker.... my runs have become very boring, nothing happens!! Except the perpetual gremlin onslaught from the moment I think 'I'll go for a run'.... that never changes. I love that I've inspired you MC, you me too, you know, often think of you out on a run. This place is the best. Look what it's done to us!! xx
You too! x I don't really feel that I have much to write about at the mo, but maybe as I get stronger and back into a proper running routine, things will change! All a bit haphazard at the mo....Hopefully the good weather will change that! xx
I donβt post much either these days, Fishy, just pop in now and again to see how everyone is (and if I can offer support), but am very much business as usual, still running, but nothing to report! Good weather will defo inspire you to get back to a routine I reckon! xx
I am so, so proud of you, dear Mummycav! You are a brilliant runner. Patient, persistent and committed. And lovely with it. π Wear your badge with pride!
Sadie-runs xxx
PS Glad you enjoyed the Fiona Oakes documentary - she is so inspiring! You and she have shown the world what can be done with one kneecap! πππ
Aw, Sadie-runs ....youβre such a kind heart xxx Thankyou for all your support and encouragement, the emails, the Fiona Oakes film and converting me to a cloud flyer runner!! How can I not get better with a superstar friend like you?! Xxxx
Fantastic achievement and a great run report. (Getting the hairdressers to cut your sleeves off π!) - knew you'd do it one of these days π. Woop woop ππ
It wasn't really my aim to run passed the salon but I was thinking of just knocking on someone's door and asking them if I could borrow some scissors to cut them off myself but I was only about 3kms away so thought I'd call in and let them do it...and had a couple of glasses of water too...then off I went, all the way to 10k!! The hills at the end were hard but I wasn't sacrificing my sleeves for nothing!!! π€£ x
So happy for you Mummycav, and you're so right to be proud of yourself. The goals we fight hardest for mean the most! Mahoosive congratulations! π π π π π π
