Lovely Flick has assured me I am in no way a fraud to post here instead of C25K, so here I am! I graduated C25K in December and have been working my way up since. Just did a 6.5K yesterday, averaging about 6:20mpk (the photo is from before the run, certainly not after 🤣) hoping to do a repeat tomorrow and then off to Scotland this weekend to visit my dad and have mapped out a 10K along the seafront. The longest I have done before is 9K, though it was a hilly 9K and this route I have planned looks quite flat, so I am cautiously optimistic. Any advice would be great!
Happy running everyone!

Hey! Good to see you here. You look very surprised
I gradually built up distance, 1k extra per week until I got to 8k. After that I just did a 10k one evening when I was having a particularly good run. I'd reached the 8k and just thought "it's only another 2k, that's nothing!"
Ju-ju on here has some great advice and plans for running 10k.
Hahah that is just my face! I have great big bug eyes.
Yes that's pretty much what I have done, I increased each week and regularly do 8/9K, just need that final push to get to 10K and am hoping the weekend will be it. I don't suppose it's much different doing 9K to 10 but we will see!
Me too! My dad's place is about a mile away from the Ardrossan coast. I'll have the sleeping giant of the Isle of Arran keeping my company for my run - very fortunate to be able to see such lovely scenery so regularly
That sounds like a perfect route for a 10k run along the seafront..and yes, hopefully nice and flat...
A really good playlist, a breakfast about an hour before you run ( drink plenty of water the day before)...you know all this...maybe think of it as two 5k runs, count up to 5 for the first half, then down from 5 for the second half..
I don't normally do breakfast before a run but perhaps a spoonful of peanutbutter wouldn't hurt on a slightly longer run. It's funny how much difference drinking water the day before can make. We are nothing but machines really are we? Water is like the oil to keep us moving
great to see you here.... well done on your progress. Looking at your comments below you are super close now, and the best advice I can give you about running on sand is that its hard!! Take your time and if you can vary the terrain then do.... and for your first 10k do not worry about the time.... you are speedy anyway and you can use this as a baseline so the only way is up
Oh it's a road along the beach, not on the beach! I remember visiting a friend in Swansea and trying to run on sand years ago. Never again!
It's funny, but my natural pace used to be around 7-7.30min per km but now I struggle to go slower than 6:30. I never thought it would be hard to slow down but it is and I keep actively thinking to do so and even think I am slowing, till I hear the pace in my ear and realise I've sped up again =/ any advice on how to go a little steadier would be great!
This is a common problem.... I would say set a pace that is comfortable for you. If you can on the first mile go slow- on long training runs I used to imagine someone pushing me back and actively count slower... that worked usually and it meant I had enough in the tank left to finish strong at the end. Good luck
Oooh 10K along the seafront sounds gorgeous! A hilly 9K has prepared you well and you'll feel the difference on the flat. Just enjoy every step and deep breathe that sea air and fell epic when you finish 💪💪💪
I only came over here a few weeks ago & felt most unworthy!!!still not entirely sure i should be here as i am a long, long way from ever running 10k...if ever!!!
I mean i guess it is the "bridge to 10K" and not the "10k only" club so I don't know why we were intimidated but it does feel like a seat at the grown up table 😂
Ah, look at you, looking gorgeous if a trifle startled. We all seem to creep onto this forum on tiptoes, but everyone is lovely...and everyone was on c25k originally. Really glad youve joined us!
