Living in a town

When we lived in the country I had often thought about running but never actually did. After my divorce, me and the kids came to live in a town so it would be easier for them to get about without relying on me all the time. Once I started running I have often thought how much nicer this would be back in the country. But as I have run further I have realised I am actually really lucky to have a network of flat cycle paths right on my doorstep, and a beautiful country park with a lake in it, a little over a mile away from my house. Before I started the C25K plan I used to drive here to walk the dog...... today I ran here, round the lake and home again in 32 minutes!

I love living in the centre of a small city—I can choose whether I want to go urban and peer in people's windows, or rustic, where I get to run along clifftops and in the hills and woods with the pheasants and sometimes don't see another soul for an hour. Best of both worlds! 😊

Lovely photo of where you run E27M14, nice that you have resumed running, your 32 minutes run (about 5K) sounds a little like the runs I do, a mainly off road route, round a Loch (I live in Scotland) through woodland ending very near to a local leisure centre which has two gyms, about 5K altogether.

Oh wow, pretty! 😍😍 How lovely to be able to run from your house. I can’t - even though we’re pretty rural, the road outside our house is really busy and there’s no pavement. 😱 So I drive. 🚙

You sound really happy and content in your running! Fabulous. 😀😀🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️👍👍

That looks lovely. Parks offer nice safe running conditions away from traffic. It’s great that you can ditch the car to get there too.

What a beautiful place to run (to)! It's true though, there are running routes in unpromising seeming places, once you start to look for them.

Town dwelling has lots to commend it 😃. I looked at moving to the country but then thought I’d ended using my car all the time 🤷‍♀️ So, moved to a town. Close to shops etc but easily accessible trails, parks etc right on my doorstep I can get into the the country via the footpaths, or to the canal which goes for miles Happy days 🏃‍♀️😃
