I was due to run yesterday but put it off due to the weather. I drove down to the canal, seeking shelter from the still-gusty wind. I covered 8k, including warm up and cool down walks and a couple of short steep stretches up past two flights of locks in the last couple of km (NOT the one in the photo! I managed that incline!!) Really pleased, as I have my first race event in April, which is a 5 miler, and whilst I will be very slow (1hr 15mins today) and probably last, at least I know I can get around it. I plan to stay at this distance for a couple of weeks before progressing towards 10k for my second event, a 10k race in June. Embracing my inner snail ๐ but itโs nice to feel that once Iโve found my happy pace I can keep plodding on. Nothing hurts, either, which hasnโt happened in some while! I never would have thought I could do this back in October when I started C25k: one very happy bunny here ๐๐
Proper chuffed: I was due to run yesterday but... - Bridge to 10K
Proper chuffed
Sounds like your running is in a very good place indeed. I found that I speeded up a bit during the second attempt at a distance, without really trying to. Probably a confidence thing...but hey, who cares? I am a confirmed member of the Gastropoda club; ๐๐๐๐rule ok ๐ Well done Molly1973
Thank you! I too am in the club: maybe we need badges?! Is it @Oldfloss who has a snail badge?
Congratulations - excellent progress since October! You'll have no problem with the 5 miles. ๐
Well done! Nothing wrong with being a snail ๐ I too am one ๐ that looks a beautiful place to run ๐๐ปโโ๏ธ and you will smash that 5 miler ๐๐ป
Molly youโre doing amazingly well! Slow and steady is the way to go, as your body is attesting to. Isnโt it great? ๐โโ๏ธ๐๐ Youโll be up to 10k before you know it.
Iโm going to run 10k again this week. Like you said, once the happy pace is met, I could snail along for miles and have no ill effects. ๐๐ Go snails! ๐๐๐
