Well what a lovely experience! I decided on parkrun tourism this weekend even though the friend I was going with got the wrong weekend (it’s next week she’s going!) It’s my mum’s 94th birthday today so I coincided it with visiting her in Weston on the way back. ❤️ It worked out perfectly, and what a beautiful warm morning. ☀️☀️☀️
I can highly recommend Burnham and Highbridge parkrun and its happy team of volunteers and friendly bunch of fellow runners. ❤️🏃♀️🏃♂️🐕 Lovely flat out and back course alongside the river and seafront, with flat being the operative word for a still rather chesty me. 🤧🤧
If it hadn’t have been for a ‘comfort break’ for my dog again (2 weekends in a row? Really - this is new behaviour!!), it would have definitely been an official PB. As it was, Garmin and Strava said it was (even with me forgetting to pause my watch) but PR itself put it slightly over by a few seconds but that’s ok. I ran well after an on-and-off week and felt good, albeit with the little tickly cough annoying me at times. There was definitely quite a slow walking bottleneck at the start too, but other than that, it was beautifully organised. I think I’ll go back next weekend and make the PB official. 🏃♀️ I’m so competitive with myself! 🤦♀️
What also felt awesome was the smiliest “older gentleman” marshal doling out wide grins and high fives to us all. He was taking his role very seriously and it gave me a massive boost! Lovely guy. 👏👏 Isn’t it an amazing way to start the weekend? 👍👏😀
I hope you’re all having a lovely time in this gorgeous bonus weather. Happy running everyone! 🏃♀️❤️🏃♂️❤️🐕

That sounds like a great run cheeky, and happy birthday to your mum too. Definitely enjoying the weather, I've just posted my parkrun efforts too. Feels great after an enforced pause, doesn't it 😊 (my Garmin time suffered from operator error this week 😳 so official pr time is the one I'm going with this week)😁
You’re right GOG it feels awesome. And the lovely warm weather just added to the joy of running today. ❤️🏃♀️
I do that too - pick which result is favourable and go with that! Often I’ll get 3 different times, with the parkrun official one the slowest as I always start near the back with my 🐕 😀
That’s a great write up cheeky. There was a really fast chap with a dog at my PR this morning. Poor thing. As soon as he passed the line the dog did a huge wee! Must have been hanging on for dear life the whole way round.
Mine clearly finds that running about 0.5k is enough to “get things moving” as she did the exact same last week too and puts all the brakes on! I’ll need to arrive even earlier in future so she gets longer to run off the lead first. That’s with her having gone at home beforehand! 🤦♀️ 😅
She does get very excited during the briefing so maybe that’s it TC! 😅😅
I’m thinking I’ll run dog free next weekend and see what I can do! There are plenty of places to walk her before or after so she won’t feel left out. 🏃♀️😀
Great run cheeky. I didn't make it to my parkrun this morning. I set off to go, but got caught up in traffic as there was an accident on the road. I got to the park run at 8.58, but then couldn't find anywhere to park.
So I decided to go to my body combat class at 9.15 instead . Back to the park run next week hopefully
Thanks Sandi, it was a lot of fun. I’m going to do a bit more tourism now I think. We’re lucky as there are plenty within a reasonable distance of Bristol. 👍👍
I was thinking maybe you had the morning off, but I suspect body combat was harder than parkrun?! Kudos to you for doing that! I might have slunk back home for a bacon sarnie or something! 😈 😅
Aww thanks Beanjo, I’m shedding snails slowly but surely. I’ll always have a loyal following and I’ll never shed them all, but the slowest of the slow have left me now. They were good friends and kept me injury free! 🏃♀️👍 🐌
Thanks Baddie. I’ve just made a mahoosive rod for my own back by deciding to run dog-free next weekend. I’ll have zero excuse not to get a PB. No comfort breaks and I needn’t start right at the back. What have I done?! 😅😅😳😳
I wasn’t going to miss today if I could possibly help it over61! The cold didn’t really come to much. A slightly tickly/sore throat and a little cough that’s all. Hopefully it’s on its way out now - I have running to do next week! 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️
Well done Cheeky - glad your tickle didn't amount to much. Wish I could say the same about mine - managed parkrun this morning, but slowest for quite a while. Still its not all about the time 😀
Haha, I know Jonathan, this is a new thing! I’m going to have to arrive at parkrun even earlier so she can get extra off the lead time to do her business!
Sorry you’re still not 100%. I think I was quite lucky. I’m still a bit tickly but that’s all it amounted to it seems. I hope you’ll feel better this week. 🤞
Well done 👍🏻 It was a gorgeous day for a run ☀️☀️ dogs 🐕 mine only ever seems to have a comfort break with an audience 🤣🤣 glad you are feeling better and happy birthday to your mum 😃😃
I know, this is brand new behaviour Bridget, and of course it’s not her fault! I’ll need to get to PR even earlier and give her longer off the lead beforehand I suppose. Silly little girl! 🐕😅
Mum was being treated to birthday cake with their afternoon tea today! ❤️
Thanks Jell. Yes, the cold didn’t amount to much I’m relieved to say. I really wanted to try that parkrun and I’m so pleased I did! 😀🏃♀️👍
I’m doing it again “sans dog” next weekend to see if I can nail on that PB once and for all. I like everything to be official and I know I lost time at the start in the bottleneck and also whilst picking up madam’s gift! I’ll walk the course with her afterwards. 😀🐕
