The title of this “not quite” was always my story, until that is I discovered C25k, which I started on 16 Feb 2018, graduated in April and today,13 Feb 2019 I ran 10k! Life’s thrown a few curve balls, over the last couple of weeks especially, but today I chose to dodge them and get out and just run. I’m so happy I did. (OK ecstatic)
Finding the little creature above was a sign, She/he lives at my stepdaughter’s house where I have just finished house, cat and puppysitting for the last week. I was watering their garden and found her/him hidden and buried amongst weeds, so she/he is now where she/he belongs proud and out in front where all snails belong. I am a snail and I am proud to be one. Snails rock!
Down to earth with a thump, my daughter is back at the same hospital where my granddaughter was, her partner was mowing their lawns on Sunday and suffered a heart attack. He now has 4 stents. Will I encourage him and my daughter to stop smoking and start C25k? you betcha (at an appropriate time obviously) 😎
Thank you everyone on here for your support and encouragement it has made a huge difference to my life - truly I’ll definitely buy myself a Garmin but not yet, will go and run for fun for a bit with no thoughts about pace or distance and instead I’ve just ordered some Elmo and Cookie Monster Leggings 😅 Such a child eh? Sounds silly but I’m not sure how I get my badge. 🥰

Huge well done fellow Snail... we do rock and your snail is an amazing totem
Brilliant 10K and what a journey!'
Granddaughter on the mend and now this!
I do hope your daughter partner is making good progress and that they will both be inspired by your running and your obvious delight at the benefits of it
Thank you Oldfloss, My daughter spent her birthday in hospital with granddaughter, her partner spent his 44th birthday yesterday, also in hospital. I’m feeling very thankful I still have them. ❤️ X
Massive congratulations Lexi!! Yahoooo!! Indeed! Well done to you!! I’m having a few of those curve balls myself, but I’ll be back. Well done!! 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😍❤️
Fantastic news, you did it! And I absolutely love your snail! 🐌❤️🐌
I truly hope you can get to enjoy your celebrations, and that your son-in-law is ok - what a scary time your family has had of late. You all deserve some good fortune, and hey your 10k might just have kickstarted that! 🤞 ❤️
Your badge looks beautiful! ❤️ 🏅 Snails for ever! 🐌🏃♀️🐌🏃♀️🐌
Thanks so much Cheeky. I started without the son in law and had a wine in a big flash expensive glass the size of a goldfish bowl, which were a 60th birthday pressie and are saved “for best” well this is best and they’ll get brought out more often in future 😎 I love my badge too, feel all growed up now.
Aaw! Thanks Bbr! The 10k seemed a long time coming, but it was so worth waiting for. It was a lovely warm day here, a little breeze and all gremlins banished, for a little while at least, perfect conditions. Daughter’s partner has had his warning now, so lets hope he listens. 😎 xx
Well done on your 10k! Congratulations! Enjoy your time on the podium and all the very best for your onward running journey,🎓🍾🥂🏅👏🏻😊🎉👍☀️ 💥⚡️ 🏃♀️🤸♀️🏃♀️🤸♀️🏃♀️🤸♀️
Enjoy your Leggings!
I am so very sorry to hear about your daughter's partner, I do hope his health improves.
Thanks 61 I’m pretty excited at what is going to come next. I think I’d like to try a race sometime in the future, but will work on speeding up a little, but for now I might just stroke that badge for a little bit longer and enjoy the moment. Think the leggings when they arrive may debut at parkrun. Haven’t been since before Christmas. Daughter just texted and he’ll be home from hospital tomorrow 👍
Love the sound of Elmo and Cookie Monster leggings - those sound way more important for morale than a Garmin. Hope your family are all doing better soon. ❤️
Thanks MD, I think just for now running for the joy of it, rather than trying to achieve distance or a time is going to be way more fun, especially in those leggings. 🤓
Thanks alison, its made me so happy to have run the 10k. The memory of Week 1 run 1 of C25k will never leave me!! 😳 what an amazing programme which enables old dears like me to run ❤️
Thanks Dexy, I love seeing that badge next to my name and I hope there’s many more 10ks left in me. SIL home today, so we’ll have a bit more on his discharge. You and UPS have a fabulous skiing trip. 😎
😂😂 you’re not wrong Jonathan! It had been quite a while since visiting the hospital, so long in fact that the last time visiting, the hospital car park used to require coins now it takes notes! I’m going to take my time finding a better route for my next 10k and relax a little now. 🙂
Oh Lexi was a fabulous achievement especially with everything that life has literally thrown at you in recent weeks. But look what you have done... 10k. A little run of sunshine 🌞 in your life is just what you needed. 🌟🌞🌟🌞. So pleased for you. And hope your daughters partner recovers soon.
Thanks Wimborne, it was a little bit of me time and I had no one else to tell who would be interested in hearing, apart from sharing on here. Just waiting for my very cheerful leggings now. My wardrobe has space for clothes, but my running drawer overfloweth!
😂😂 👭 how funny is that? Thanks Jell a a couple of days off is on the cards now. I slept really well last night and woke up this morning with no aches and pains. All my stretching has paid off.
Thanks so much Tailchaser. Daughter was always a stubborn one, but think this has been a real shock for her. Just stopping smoking will be a start. I’ll start nagging her to try C25. 😀
Wow well done lexi 👏👏🏃♀️🏃♀️🥂🥂. What an achievement- especially against such a traumatic backdrop! Hope your son in law recovers well.
Reading your post has made me think that I could (possibly) achieve 10K for my runniversary in June so despite lots of curve balls here at the moment that’s what I’m going to aim for.
Enjoy your new leggings which sound fab and look after that snail 😊
Thanks so much Beanjo, you can definitely do 10k by June, I never thought I’d be able to do that distance ever. Post your progress on here, I found it sooooo helpful as there’s so much good advice from others who have already done it. Looking forward to reading your progress posts Beanjo. Go you 😀 and 🐌 rock.
Well done ! Slow and steady wins every time. 🐢🐢🐌🐌 My goal is 10k too, that's far enough for this old bird. I should graduate on Monday 25th if all goes well.
