Nearly but not quite

Well out early for my long run sun low in the sky was blinding as I started off following Rignolds advice on hydration before a run must have drunk about 4 litres yesterday and felt fine ran part of fridays route but turned left instead of right kept on going speed was about 7.1 km an hour and I think I got to 7 km in about 56 minutes can't be sure until I download the data tomorrow any way kept going slowed a little to 6.9 km an hour was running on the village 10 km route but in reverse ran passed the 1km marker and instead of running to my house decided to be clever and ran to the finish line stopped the watch and found out what a numpty I had been because I stopped at 9.25 km instead of 10 Km however did that run in 1hr 21 minutes so probably would have completed the whole thing under 90 minutes. The difference between last weeks first 10k and this nearly 10km was I had prepared mentally and was well hydrated so had no doubts I could complete this one without to many dramas.

I have reset it to give me time and distance lesson learnt don't mess with the watch setting unless you know what you want out of it today's did not show me lap times so hopefully when i download tomorrow it might show me.

It's really frustrating when that happens, especially when you're just that tiny bit short. But at least next time you'll know that you can do it.

I think going out as early as I did also helped but yes it was annoying but also amusing in away as I was so close might try again next week to see if I can do it all in one go and the stick at the 5 km for a bit before going a little further though considering I was quite happy to stick at 5 km at this rate I could end up going a whole lot further.

When I went out at 5:15 it was about 17 degrees however at one point during the run my breath was seemed to be condensing as I hadn't worked up a sweat that only happened when I got in and had a drink. The 10k race in the village went out at 10:30 and temp was 26 degrees but there was plenty of water and two stations so they were okay. Might try that one next year once got a few more under my belt.

It will. I never thought it would, but I think I'm definitely getting the hang of it now, most days anyway.

I think the heat definitely effects performance but if you go out mentally ready it does seem to fall into place as well as properly hydrated but sometimes I think as newbies even now we forget that and by then it is usually to late and the run has gone wrong.
