Those are not words which I ever thought would come out of my mouth, but they did and I have. After a week off The Bridge, because of my granddaughter’s hospitalisation, I thought I would get out there today and do the longest run because next week will be full on. 10k really is possible now for me, in fact probable. (Ooh hark at you Lexi) Bright Lycra, great music, comfy shoes and VBR’s cheering me on. Just the best 🥰
Its been a funny ole and not so funny January. I did Red January and apart from two days in the month didn’t exercise at all, so not a bad result. I didn’t opt for the RED tee shirt, really wanted one, but I thought the cost of posting to New Zealand was probably expensive and the money was better spent in the UK, but when I received my starter pack with red laces, they were just as good. I signed up for my first virtual race/distance 25 miles for February, so today 9k (5miles? gone) 👍
Granddaughter has had a bit of a setback from her appendix op, temperature spiked infection/fluid/pus?and she is now on IV antibiotics until Monday and then they will decide if she needs another op 🤞for not. She is still cheerful and peeved that she’s missed the first week of school after the long summer break. She must get that from her father’s side/daughter’s ex 😂 - Nerd! I’m impressed though seriously.
Take care everyone in the snow and the ice, just think of the alternative if dreadmills hadn’t been invented and if you haven’t got access to one, the runs really will wait for you Xx
Meant to say that there was only two days in which I didn’t exercise in January. Sheesh! 9k euphoria.

Woohoo Lexi, huge well done! 👏👍👊 You’re amazing, especially having to deal with your disrupted week or so with your poor granddaughter. Sending her get well soon vibes for a speedy recovery without the need for a 2nd op. ❤️🤞❤️
That 10k will be yours. I can’t wait for your celebratory post! 😀😀 Champers is on ice for you. Good luck when it happens. 🏃♀️🏃♀️ 🍾 🥂 🤞👍👏👊
Thanks Cheeky, not sure I could do 9k again, couldn’t have run one more step today, all concrete, but me mate Baldrick has a plan, you could say a cunning plan, when I go for the 10k I’ll do the parkrun route twice, all gravel, much kinder to joints. I’ll pass on your lovely vibes to my gorgeous grandaughter. Champers, now ya talking 🥂 ,ooh all right then, just one more, maybe the 🍾 X
Thanks Jell, for your kind thoughts. Re the race at your pace, I thought I would sign up for the 25 milesin Feb, I think I would probably do more, but thought no pressure and even if I don’t get bling, I still get a compression top anyway and more days in March, so will sign up for 50. Great incentive for me. 👍
Lexi that’s brilliant. 9k after such a tough week too.
Hope those antibiotics do the trick for her and she starts to feel better soon. Sending Big hugs across the miles to you. Look forward to 10k post next weekend. How exciting is that. 😀💗
Thanks Wimborne, never thought I could be excited about being sweaty, bright red and knackered. Dreams about 10k related to the dosh not the distance. Once granddaughter out of hospital, will concentrate on that last 1k. Excited!🥰
Oh well done lexi! The 10K is just the next step now 💪💪 whoop whoop.
Sorry to hear about your granddaughter but it sounds as if she's quite chirpy. Don't kids get extra kudos from their friends when they've been to hospital?
Well done lexi. You are almost there and like you say, the mental battle is done - you know you can get to 10k now. Wishing your granddaughter a speedy recovery and fingers crossed she won’t have to go back to theatre 🤞
Thanks jayval its only another 1k to go and hopefully she’ll be home before I try for 10k. Got a 4k and a 5k to go this week, will get that done before she is discharged. She’s a little toughie so fingers crossed for no more surgery👍🙂
Thanks IP, can’t wait to try for 10. Granddaughter is very resilient, can’t believe she hasn’t told any of her friends she’s in hospital, amazing herNan would want heaps of sympathy. 😂
Well done to you! Distance PBs are always worth celebrating! 🍾🥂🏅👏🏻😊🎉👍☀️ 💥⚡️ 🏃♀️🤸♀️🏃♀️🤸♀️🏃♀️🤸♀️ Do hope that your granddaughter is fully well soon and back enjoying school!!
Thanks Jay, she’s doing great considering, but it is time for her to get back to school, so I can embarrass her when I wave and run past in my Lycra. Its on my way, honest. Oh Nan! 🤬
Thanks Flara, she is looking a lot better, I have my fingers crossed for a full discharge from hospital for her on Monday. That 10k doesn’t seem quite so daunting now. 🤓
Well Done Lexi, you are doing brilliantly down under. That 10k is just around the corner and you will be up in the clouds drinking champagne 🥂 🍾 . What a busy month you’ve had too. I shall look out for red laces on shoes at parkrun.
Thanks Baddie, I’ll definitely have a few days extra rest before I try for the 10 because I’d really like to do it on or before 16 Feb the anniversary of my starting C25k. 🤓
