Today was my first 9k since January... I was hoping it would feel a little easier as I get more used to running for longer again, but it still feels like a bit of a slog! Still, very fortunate be able to do it. I can't resist photos of paths!

Congratulations on completing that 9K run, not long now until you can run 10K again. ✅👍

No, not long but not any easier!

You did it, that's the main thing 👍. I know what you mean about runs feeling a slog - I still have runs sometimes when I feel that I haven't progressed at all in two years 🥵....and then I have a great run! And you will too 😃

I'd really like to believe that but maybe it will be a shorter run.

Your right....I could be doing that 10k on my birthday... Friday week! I'm having a 'ladies only' lunch in the garden so I'll have to run very early if I'm to have food all ready...

Can it be a good run and still feel hard??

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply toMormor1

Oh yes! 😀 the hard ones make us stronger, like the first time I puffed and panted over my bridge, I felt so good when i got to the top

Well done on your 9K .It's great to pick the distance up again isn't it !

But yes your right , can also be a bit of a slog !

Don't think they are ever going to get easier now....but I won't stop!

I run a hilly route then when I next run on the flat it seems less of an effort 🙂

Oooh tea and wads. Sounds lovely🫖☕️🧁🍰🥪. Triangles obviously 🙂

9k! Congratulations, that’s a distance to be proud of. Some runs are a grind. I’ve realised that my legs are still doing it even if my head isn’t feeling it and there’ll be better ones coming soon. Mine today was lovely after a very unlovely one last time! You’re owed a less hard feeling one now!

Yes, I definitely feel good when it's a 4 or 5 k run...as long as it's not hot!

MissUnderstanding profile image
MissUnderstandingAdministratorGraduate10 in reply toMormor1

I started couch to 5k in January. I haven’t experienced hot runs yet!

Mormor1 profile image
Mormor1Graduate10 in reply toMissUnderstanding

Still plenty of time! I heat up very quickly and then my skin itches...fortunately I'm near the sea at the end of hot runs so dip in for a rapid anti itch cooldown.

Ha ha neither can I 😁. It’s only to be expected as it’s the furrow we plough. I feel like a cart ‘oss at times 😅

It does feel like a grind sometimes but less so when we find a new track or trail etc. I stopped to take a pic yesterday of a bridge I must have passed a million times but not noticed. I was running slowly when I clocked it 🙂

Keep plugging away. No rush 💪👍🏃‍♀️

So true, I'm just afraid if I keep slowing down I'll grind to a halt!

Well done! It's funny how adding just a little distance can feel a looong way. I added 2K to my usual 7K run to make a 9K a couple of weeks ago - I could really feel the difference. Always a delight to discover a new path!

Yes, I do love those 'made for 1' paths too.
