Slowly but surely

I'm still listening to the lovely Michael Johnson W9R3 for about the 10th time! I've increased the running time to about 35minutes but think it'll take quite a few weeks to get to running 5K. Still, slowly but surely is probably best at my three score and ten.

Ditch the app! You don’t need him anymore!

It took me a while after C25K to get to 5km too. Just increase slowly and you'll get there. I still can't do 5km in 30 mins, not many of us can🏃🏼‍♀️

Just keep going slow and steady, and if you feel comfortable taking Michael J along with you, then there's no harm in that. And there is no rush to get to 5k. As long as you're enjoying it, keep doing what you're doing.

Happy running. :-)

Well done motowngirl, you can now increase your running time by 10% a week so why not try doing one long run and 2 x 30 mins a week and see how you go?

That sounds like a good idea, but how long is a "long run "?

No need to ditch the app if its keeping you running! After I graduated I decided to do a park run so in preparation one day I went out with strava or some other app and just ran till i hit 5k at my usual steady pace. I wanted to see what 5k felt like distance not time wise before committing to park run.

It didn't feel that much worse! As with the miracle of C25K sometimes you just have to make that next step, I never run, ever, before C25K and now I'm on week 3 of ju-ju's bridge to 10k last night I ran 44 minutes my longest ever, should be 6k for the fast ones but I doubt I made that. In a waffling way I'm trying to say is you are ready to step up, by writing on the forum you just need a little nudge and a big cheer from the crowd!

I’m the same, I keep repeating W9 R3, I like to know how long I have been running and how long I have to go.

I find it really helpful

At my pace it will take me an hour to run 5k

If you can run non stop for an hour, then hat's off to you! 😁 Other apps will give you a time/ distance indication and some like the NRC Nike running club have specific time or distance runs. Some have motivational speakers/running advice which might be of use?

I'm into the podcasts, no such thing as a fish, on Spotify at the moment but I do laugh out loud while running! 🤣🤣🤣

Well done, Motown girl!! Took me 27 weeks to get to graduation on C25K, at 72,(injuries etc.,) but just done two park runs which is 5k, great atmosphere and loads of encouragement. Still slow, but it doesn't matter, it's not a race, only against yourself. Keep up the good work, and try a park run.🤗

Yes I'm hoping to try a park run in a few weeks thank you for the advice.

I really enjoyed running to Michael, try using the 5K+ podcast with Laura, you soon get use to the music even at our age 😉. All the best in your future runs ✅
