Going to have a week’s break, so I can do the morning visiting shift at the hospital. I’d taken my granddaughter to doctors on Friday for what her Mum thought was gastroenteritis, but after her blood test results came through she was taken in to hospital and actually had a perforated appendix and abcess. Fab doctor for ordering blood tests, it could have been much worse.
I got up early Sunday morning to do my 5k of the last run of week 4, so I could get to the hospital but apart from the wind it was just a horrible run, the head and the heart were elsewhere. Week 5 will be waiting for me when I get back. Happy running everyone whatever week you’re on. You’ll do it. See you next week.

Gosh how worrying! Do hope she's feeling more comfortable & will be out soon. I'm sure your head & heart will be in to running more in a week's time. Wishing you all the best. X
Thanks Cheeky, she has a very high pain threshold. I would have been rolling around in agony, (mind you I am a wimp) she hasn’t had a meal simce last Monday, hopefully being able to eat again soon will help. X
Oh I hope your granddaughter recovers fast - what a shock! Poor thing. 🙁 And yes, running will be there for when you are ready again. A break is always good for the legs anyway. x
Thanks Sadie, she gave us all a fright. I have been doing Red January, so will just do some walking ( hospital corridors don’t count) instead of running. The week off will certainly be a change x
Thanks Runninginsingapore, she is hopefully over the worst now. She was shown her op photos and gave me way too much detail with what was involved. 🤢 x
Ah Lexi your head and heart is quite rightly on your granddaughter! The run next week will always be here when you’re all back in the flow! Wishing her a speedy recovery! ❤️
It doesn’t do any harm to take a week off lexi6, especially as the plan is quite intense. You may find that you feel super refreshed when you return to it. Running must fit around everyday life. Hope your granddaughter is better soon.
Thanks Dexy you’re right, since starting C25 last February I’ve had very little time off grandaughter is way more important and the rest will be quite nice. Got many more runs in me, but not grandaughters. X
Thanks jeffbird, it was very frightening, more because we didn’t realise how bad she was. My daughter won’t forget her birthday in a hurry, spent all day and most of the night in the hospital. A short break will be nice. X
Hope your granddaughter is improving lexi. Worrying times to say the least. Your runs will be waiting. Take good care of yourself as well as your family x
Thank you Oldlady, she’s showing improvement and I know she’s getting the care she needs We have the opposite problem to the UK, so I’m glad of the running break as it was 31 degrees today.
We should be in Oz enjoying our winter break with our family. Had to postpone due to delays in our house move. I’m envious of your 31 degrees😉 Glad your granddaughter is improving. Wishing her a speedy recovery 👍🏻
Aah! Good luck with the house move, hope you get to Oz when its a little cooler though. My sister in law lives in Sydney and she is really suffering in their heat, (37 today) lives with blinds and curtains drawn and air con on. 😎
