Tartancat made my mind up! ๐Ÿ‘

Thanks Tartancat ! ๐Ÿ˜€ I read yesterdayโ€™s post about the *ailed (canโ€™t use the full F word!) run and itโ€™s made my own mind up. Iโ€™m stepping back from running until Sunday.

I ran 6k on Tuesday, and whereas my time was perfectly fine I found it a struggle and almost didnโ€™t enjoy it. I wondered if I was coming down with something, but no I donโ€™t think so (*touch wood* ๐Ÿคž) Possibly leg fatigue after my excess hill running over the last couple of weeks, possibly due to the 30 day yoga โ€˜journeyโ€™ Iโ€™m currently on, or maybe I just need a break. Whatever the reason, TCโ€™s post confirmed to me that we all hit a wall sometimes and thatโ€™s ok. ๐Ÿ‘

Iโ€™m following ju-ju- โ€˜s plan again just to see if I can shed a few snails this time round, and today was supposed to be intervals, but Iโ€™m simply not feeling it. I have a crazy social calendar this week (daughterโ€™s graduation yesterday, followed by a choir performance this evening, nieceโ€™s 21st tomorrow, and friendโ€™s 60th on Saturday) so running was always going to be tricky. Iโ€™m already volunteering at parkrun, so I think Iโ€™ll simply go for a โ€˜no techโ€™ amble on Sunday and resume next week.

It pains me a bit as Iโ€™ve been a stoic 3 runs a week person since C25K, but I know itโ€™s right for me. My reset button needs pressing and Iโ€™ve just given myself permission to do just that!

There, Iโ€™ve said it. Itโ€™s ok! Thanks TC! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

Bless you Cheeky! You've got a busy week coming up. Sometimes you just need to take the pressure off and relax ๐Ÿ›Œ. Youll come back stronger and revitalised - raring to go! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

And I know what you're like - you'll be itching to join in on Saturdays parkrun!

Have a wonderful time at your daughter's graduation. Take hankies- I cried when my daughter graduated, so proud!

Aww thanks TC, the graduation was yesterday and it was very emotional indeed! Weโ€™re so proud of her, sheโ€™s worked hard! โค๏ธ

I know Iโ€™ll be itching to run on Saturday, but weโ€™re out for a rather nice meal on Friday evening with my bro-in-law and family for our nieceโ€™s 21st and there will be ๐Ÿท๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿท๐Ÿฅ‚ flowing. I thought volunteering might be wiser than running the following morning!

But Sunday Iโ€™ll pop out for a no brainer - nothing mega as weโ€™ll have been at the 60th the previous evening! Bonkers week! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…

Big love Cheeky! ๐Ÿ’›

Enjoy your week... it sounds like lots to look forward to!... You must be so very proud of your Daughter! ๐Ÿคฉ

I bet youโ€™ll come back to running really fresh & will enjoy the rest of the plan, as you have been doing! ๐Ÿ™Œ

Iโ€™m going out today... Iโ€™ll take good care of the ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒ

Keep smiling Cheeky! ๐Ÿค—

Thanks Dreams, yes weโ€™re mighty proud and it really is a fun week. Just quite a lot to cram in as well as running - and I donโ€™t want to make it a chore. ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

My snails could do with an outing, so feel free to take them along with you today! Any you donโ€™t need will find their way back here so they can have a rest too! ๐Ÿ˜…๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ˜…๐ŸŒ

Enjoy your run! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ‘

If you pushed this week you would be doing it for the achievement, not the enjoyment.

Give yourself a mini birthday break. ๐ŸŽ‚๐ŸŽ,

I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that having a week or 2 off was a good thing. ๐Ÿ˜š

Youโ€™re so right Jell. Running is meant to be fun after all, and the moment it stops, or gets in the way of life in general, I see no point in schlepping out just for the sake of it. Next week Iโ€™m back to normal, so Iโ€™ll be back out there all refreshed! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ’ช I read about the benefits of taking time off every so often too. So I will! ๐Ÿ˜€โค๏ธ

Thank you IP, yes I did listen to it. I could have gone out this morning, but more than likely would have resented it. So next week Iโ€™ll have had a rest, the social life will have gone back to normal and Iโ€™ll feel better for it. Thanks for reinforcing that! ๐Ÿ‘โค๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Sometimes a little break is just what the body needs. Enjoy your break, guilt-free. I find the week after I've been on call for the weekend can be exhausting and tough to get through my runs, so I call it a recovery week and take the pressure off. No forced runs, just whatever the body and mind can handle. You've got a lot on your plate this week. You don't need any added pressure.

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to SaskAlliecat

Itโ€™s encouraging to hear youโ€™ve done the same Sask. I just remember being so vigilant during C25K and B210K and not daring miss a run for fear of losing fitness. Hopefully now I have some in the bank and my body will be better for a little break. ๐Ÿ˜€

SaskAlliecat profile image
SaskAlliecatGraduate10 in reply to cheekychipmunks

Don't fear. You won't lose fitness, especially at this stage of your training with a week of reduced runs. A lot of the HM plans I've researched has recovery weeks built right in to give your body a break to heal better, especially after an especially tough week. The mileage is reduced that week and then climbs back up the next week. Plus we don't want running to become a chore which is how it can feel when we feel we MUST fit all runs in, despite how crazy the rest of your life is. Enjoy all you have going on this week. It sounds fun!

I've totally enjoyed my more flexible approach lately and running has been much better and more enjoyable as a result. I've not been so struck on the ice and snow though that forces non run days on me! I hope the break does you good and when you resume it feels fantastic!

cheekychipmunks profile image
cheekychipmunksGraduate10 in reply to happysouls

Aww thanks HS. Youโ€™re right, I think we've earned the right to be slightly more flexible nowadays, and why make running a chore? Iโ€™ll be back next week all fresh and raring to go! ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ

Good call, Cheeks. I love a reset week, take one every few months or so and come back so springy and ready to run again. Another thing I love about running โ€“ it makes you more aware of what your body is trying to tell you. Enjoy! xxx
