Finally, I ran my first 10k on Sunday. Talk about a runners high -I floated for the rest of the day! I finished C25K in July and since then I have stopped and started with the 10 is the magic number and other programmes trying to get to 10k. Finally I started a 7k to 20k programme and it is working. Good thing about cold weather is that it chills the aches and pains. Before I started this journey I was nervous about getting out there and looking odd and old (I am 55) next to the "proper runners". All I can say now is that the running community is brilliant and supportive. I love the waves and smiles from fellow runners - particularly when the weather is bad.

10k achieved
Congratulations SmartyArty - 10k is a brilliant achievement! Are you planning on carrying on to 20k?
And don't worry about looking odd, I live by the mantra "out there, don t care" (and I'm the far side of 50 too). We may look strange, but I bet we're fitter than most 20 year olds!
20K is the next target. I have promised my husband that I will run an Ultra Mountain race with him later this year. I think the average distance is 58k so I have a long way to go to get fit enough. The fact that I am terrified of heights is apparently not worthy of discussion. At the moment I am just focussing on weekly distances and time spent running.
Welll done βοΈ,great determination, especially at this time of the year,
Iβve noticed a lot fewer runners out this month
Just us hardened campaigners/ proper runners π
Excellent!! Well done proper runner!!! πππ
Well done SmartyArty - doesn't that first 10k feel great?! And what a target you have to aim at - 58k makes me feel faint just to think about it! π
Great achievement SmartyArty. π
