Wear your new shoes around the house... please rest up and get rid of that infection. We don't lose fitness in a short time. After a couple of weeks or so maybe... but with a chest infection, it can really weaken us. I had bronchitis and it did take a while to get back on the case after so much coughing!
When your chest is completely clear... then head out.. take a walk first... maybe wear your new shoes and just test the body out. You will soon know what to do! Be sure the runs will wait... they always do! Feel better soon x
Don’t be too disheartened or hard on yourself. Important to get over the infection first and then run. You’ll probably feel weaker at first but you’ll soon be back to your pre illness form.
Oh no so frustrating. This running lark is worth the wait though.
When I was recovering from illness one time my Pilates teacher suggested putting on running kit & shoes and walking my runs a few times.A kind of 'mentally running' exercise. It was very helpful.and got me out.Not yet for you but worth considering when you are well.Wishing you well.x
Same happened to me in October..virus struck after first 9k run in Ju-Ju’s plan. I was cross, fed up.. you name it. When I recovered I decided to restart the plan from week 1 and got there second time round. I found the NHS knee strengthening exercises (which I still do) and was able to do those every day whilst I was confined to barracks. I felt much stronger second time round.Always something you can do to maintain progress. 😊
Hardly run at all since the Parkrun in December due to Xmas etc and the running group starts back up again and I get my new shoes and bam out come the bugs. Feel slightly better this afternoon so hoping I might make the group Thursday even if it is just to join in week 3 of the C25K x
So sorry to hear that Jazzyd, but wise to stop running until any chest problem has cleared. I understand the advice is run if problems are above the neck but not if below.
