Shaking off the lurgy, new shoes, good 10k.

After 2 weeks of sneezing, wheezing and coughing I am finally shaking off the dreaded man flu and after splashing out on a new pair of ASICS Gel Kayano 25s I was eager to get out and give them a try.

And the verdict?, well worth the money, super comfy with masses of support and a huge improvement on my old 50 quid Karrimor trainers. Should have bought some proper ones ages ago!!.

Also partly a new route for me, through Gosforth, which I had done before but then a 3km section through the grounds of Newcastle race course before heading back the way I came. Some good strong splits during the run and all in all I'm feeling more confident now for my first organised 10k of the year in 4 weeks time.

Well done to all who got out for a run today

Run happy, run safe.

Brilliant 10k, and you’re sure to smash your race. 🏃🏃🏃🏃🏃

A brilliant run Chris , and an excellent pace for a 10k. Those shoes are definitely flying. 🏃‍♂️🦅

Love new shoes, going to get a pair of super lightweight flyers in a couple of months, probably Nike Pegasus Turbo!!

Glad to hear you’re on the mend. I’ve just bought a new fifty quid pair of Karrimors and put gel insoles in, and I love them 😍 coz they keep my feet dry. Something very freeing about being able to splash through muddy puddles.

Your run sounded good. Glad you’re back out there. Good luck in 4 weeks time 👍

Sounds great, haven't really done any trail running myself, I'm always on the roads or pavement

The canal towpaths can resemble trails at this time of year. It was really funny, normally I run round the mud, but yesterday it was easier to run on it 🏃‍♀️

Great run!

I love my Asics Gel Kayano 24s - they sorted out knee and hip niggles I was having and are still going strong 1000k later 😊.
