Any tips for runs in week before 10k race?

Hi everyone I finished the magic 10 plan a couple of weeks ago and have a 10k race next Sunday. I have ran 10k twice now so not as much consolidation time as I had hoped so feeling a bit nervous 😬 I'm not sure what to do in my final week? Should I try and fit another 10k in or should I focus on doing shorter runs? The run is Sunday so I was planning on running tomorrow (sat), mon and thurs....I'm very new to this so any tips or advice on good preparation would be welcome πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ƒ

Oooh exciting! You don't need to run another 10K beforehand, you know you can do it and there's nothing to gain from running that distance at this stage. Do a couple of short runs, say 4/5K in the final week. If you've been runnng speed or intervals then do one of those.

I normally don't run two days before a race and feel refreshed at the start line. Get lots of sleep, eat well and make sure you're well hydrated the day before.

Your planned running days sound good.

Good luck for the race, enjoy it and post a photo of your bling πŸ™‚πŸ…

6 months after starting C25K,I had a weeks rest from running,

It was after much deliberation

But my legs felt heavy, times were going backwards

First run back was a park run. PB by a good margin 😁

This is not uncommon 😁

So don’t over do it this week 😁

Taper! Shorter jogs during the week before. Relax time but keeping your legs turning Sommat like 5k, 8k! 3k Or two 5k’s and a 3k. Even a run round the block is ok πŸ˜ƒ

Good luck πŸ’ͺπŸ‘πŸ˜ƒ

Yes, what misswobble says - cut it back a bit so you are racing on fresh legs but you keep up with some regular running. Leave a day or so before the race (or take it very easy/short runs). Good luck and have fun! 😊
