New here- after some advice

Hi all,

I graduated from C25k at the end of August and have been consolidating by running 30mins 3 times a week. I did my first 5k about a month ago and have now started to clock up 5-5.5k a couple of times a week.

I’m interested in slowing building my distance but am starting to get really bored with my local routes. I don’t have time to drive out anywhere- what do people do to pass the time on these longer runs?

Any other tips welcome for longer distances too... I already have good trainers following a gait analysis...

Thanks in advance and Happy New Year!!😬

You are doing great 👏👏

I have found podcasts a great help. I focus on listening and then forget I’m running, so I’m able to stay out longer 😁

I'd agree podcasts or a good audio book are great. Sometimes I've even run longer so I can keep listening 😊.

Hi..i graduated in August as well. I've fallen into a pattern of two 30 minute weekday runs and a slowly increasing long-distance run on the weekend (upto 9k now). Initially i drove the route to get an idea of the distance but then tweek it to suit my run on the day!!

For me just getting out and knowing my goal was an increase was a challenge in itself. I do have different playlists i listen to in order to keep me interested and maintain pace. I also used to think about stuff but recently found that sometimes its best to think of nothing in particular and just keep moving!!

Not sure if this helps but i enjoyed sharing!! Happy Running and Happy New Year.🏃‍♀️

Congratulations on your progress. Audiobooks really do it for me. I love having someone read a good book to me as I run - the time and distances fly by. Running the same routes actually helps (at the moment I have 3 daylight routes through the woods and 3 evening routes along local roads - different distances from 5k to 12.5k so I mix things up a bit) since I know the distances I can switch off the in-run pace/distance info in NRC, forget about times/distances, lose myself in the audiobook, enjoy the run and get my time/distance info at the end of my run. It works well for me.
