Hi everyone! I graduated from C25K in April and now graduated 10K. I normally run three times a week (not sure what will happen in the winter 😂) and at the moment I run 5k or 9/10K as part of JuJu’s plan.
I plan to return to three 5k a week with a longer run every other week.
I have been wearing orthotic inserts made by the biomechanics for 2 years as my feet tend to roll outward and I was getting pains.
I am currently running in trainers from Karimoor with my inserts in. No major pains, just a few aches and pains sometimes if I haven’t stretched properly.
Anyway question is: is it time for gait analysis and perhaps a new pair of shoes or should I spend my money on something else?
Thanks for reading 🤗

Hi SS, I’d definitely go for a gait analysis. It’s invaluable I think, especially as you’re upping your distances now. You might even be recommended new shoes which don’t need your orthotics. 😀
I had a thorough one (90 minutes) and I found it really interesting. Got a discount off the shoes I bought too. 👍
As someone who has just taken the new-shoes plunge, yes, definitely, go for it! I'd take all note the comments recommending gait analysis too. I supinate, in other words when I run weight tends to be on the outside of the foot, so I had gait analysis at runners need, and then saw a podiatrist who sorted me out with orthotics, which nicely corrects it. Some shoes claim not to need inserts, my On Cloudflows claim not to, but I've always run with the orthotics, so I'm not going to change now! It's worth seeking opinion from those who know about such things, as wearing the wrong shoes could cause all sorts of problems. Plus, it's new running shoes, right?
Thanks I supinate too! I have been wearing orthotics for 3 years now. I had to have them because I started running and that’s when the problem appeared. I stopped running but started again this year and I’m glad I did!
