Well, the last several weeks have been a struggle in perseverance. I am working two jobs, seven days a week. With less than nine hours of daylight and 4 inches of snow, I was off of my training plan for a few days. I had not been able to get my miles in this week, as much as I tried. I ordered some running YakTracks to help me with the ice and snow during this winter. (A later post to follow, once I use them.)
Any who... I went out last night to get my long run in after work. I downloaded a guided run from NRC that was 80 minutes. I ended up farther away from home that I anticipated. Feeling great and keeping a slow pace I continued on. 7.14 miles / 11.49km in 90 minutes achieved! Half marathon, here I come!!
When I began my C25K plan back in July, I would never have imagined ME running for 90 minutes. Now here I am loving every minute of it! What a great life this is! ๐
Ju-Juโs 10K plan complete. Next up, the half!

Really well done kwell39! You are doing great especially with all you have on your plate work-wise. We surprise ourselves eh? Quite sure it won't be the last one for you either Happy Trails!
Nicely done kwell! You're smashing it. Way to get out and have a great long run despite many challenges. I bought some yaktrax active this year. I like them but have found the coils are wearing a bit already so iโm limiting their use to when I run paths that arenโt cleared or once the snow gets more packed and slick. My trail shoes have been surprisingly grippy for my last 2 runs.
Thanks Sask! I am happy to know someone else that has tried the Yak Trax. I am interested to see how they handle on the ice and snow. Most of the sidewalks and roads are clear so I haven't needed them yet. Let the snow fly, I say!
Thanks Unfit! I wouldnโt be here without you and others providing all the support/cheers along the way. ๐
I canโt get my music to play in conjunction with the Guided run. When I start my playlist on Spotify, NRC pauses and I have to pause the playlist to resume the run. It has happened both times I have tried the guided types. I do enjoy my music a little more than the guided runs so like to mix it up. Iโll have to play with it some more but it is annoying.
I dunno... I use Apple Music and itโs all driven from NRC. Nike support are bloody good though... I reported an issue, they communicated with me and then after a couple of mails said to make sure I had auto updates on as theyโd fixed it, so worth getting in touch with them. I do want to do the 10 mile one as thereโs a surprise at 7 miles apparently... need to get back running first ๐
Thanks Ju-Ju! YakTrax are coils you can put around your shoes to keep from slipping on ice and snow.
Amazing kwell! Congratulations ๐
Youโve done so well to keep it going through those tough conditions and with your current workload, very impressive indeed! โฆAnd that distance ๐ฎ - Huge well done to you!
All the best with your next quest for the big 13.1 - youโd going to smash it!
Hold on thereโs something missingโฆ. Aaah! it's youโre well earned Graduate10 badge!
