Indoor running

Because of poor weather at mo I’m thinking about using treadmill in gym for running on, and leaving outside till it’s a bit dryer. Any thoughts on this. Should I change to indoors for a few months ?

I think the treadmill is a good feather to have in your cap - if the weather's TOO nasty you can still run. If you're not used to treadmill running I'd suggest you take your next few runs indoors to make sure you get the hang of it. After that you'll have the freedom to decide whether to run inside or outdoors 😊

Yes I used the treadmill on c25k when it was icy outside. I was a bit scared of letting go of the handles, but Start by doing a brisk walk pace to warm up and then gently raise the running pace until you find the one that suits you. It is a bit kinder on the knees but make sure you have a podcast or music to combat the boredom. I will certainly go back to it if necessary. Happy running 🏃‍♀️

Thank you. I live on a mountain so mostly flooded on bottom running levels and where it’s not flooded it’s massive puddles and leaves etc

Is that mountain in the UK or are you one of our far flung heroes?

I’m currently doing 1 x treadmill run per week - today as it happened - as I’m short on time on Thursday mornings generally, so I do my shorter run at the gym. 🏃‍♀️

I quite enjoy it strangely. Many don’t. Having said that, I’m not sure I’d be able to stand more than 5k on it (have only done 4k so far) as I get soooooo hot. 🥵

So I’d definitely recommend having a go at least and see how you get on. Dress accordingly! 👍

Thank you

Hi Scobs, I used the treadmill all the time when I was starting out and I still do at least one run a week on them. I’ve just found the Nike running club app that has some guided runs on it, including a first treadmill one. Useful for getting to know the treadmill with some truly awful jokes thrown in! I don’t mind the treadmill but you do have to vary your speed and elevation to keep it interesting.

Good luck! And happy running

I have a fan blowing on me and one of those cooler towels around my neck when using my treadmill at home. And I catch up with The Archers 😂. 👍🏻
