Thanks to Ju-Jus plan, just completed my first ever 10k, I did it at the Olympic Park winter series race, and Iโm delighted as i finished in 1:01 ๐๐
I wasnโt going to go, as this morning it was tipping it down, but I had my mum here who was egging me on.
Had a slight mishap where I tried to pass her my coat and it ended up getting her in the face, which I then felt guilty about (and giggled over ) for the next km.
I think running really has been an up and down journey for me, some weeks Iโve been wondering why am I doing this? All Iโve gained is two massive blisters on my feet and sore lower legs.
Saying that Iโm already thinking about new running gear and routes!
In the week leading up to it I had one terrible run, where it was windy and raining hard, and my โwaterproofโ coat started leaking through. And just my luck, the MOMENT I finished, it stopped raining!
I think over December Iโm going to keep running, but maybe between 5-7k.
Not sure what lies ahead, longer distances, more short races, or joining a social running club.
Who knows, what I do know is that Iโll spend the rest of the day slogging about ๐
Yay Curlybird, well done on your 10k and what a fabulous time! ๐๐ Donโt forget your badge (I still keep staring at mine!!) ๐
I think Iโd chuckle too if my jacket ended up over someoneโs face! ๐ Shame about your blisters, but theyโll heal and the blister plasters you can get are really effective. ๐
Have fun running over Christmas. Iโve entered a 10k race in May, so something else to work towards improving my pace etc. ๐๐โโ๏ธ๐
Thank you I think take everything in your own time. Whatโs weird is that the time I found hardest was going from non-runner to running over 20 mins. After running for 5k, the stepping stones between 5,6,78 are smaller, not such a physical exertion, more a mental mindset to keep on!
Congratulations curly, what a great way to graduate your 10k! Well done mum for getting you out there. You know mums know best. And what a great place to run too.
