Got back from a fabulous time in Dubai and the UAE π¦πͺ with family.
I managed to keep my trotting ticking over, although I did not manage my 3 sessions per week of HIIT which I am going to pursue.
I did manage to visit the MJPDubai and ran the 120m indoor track in 17seconds.It is a stake in the ground for me.
So I am lucky, the local gym opens 0615 Mon - Frid.
So in get up, get out and do it Ju-ju fashion,
Mon/Wed/Frid will be HIIT sessions and or 30/20/10 sessions on the treadmill.
Tues/Thur/Sat will be strength sessions.
On top of that will be everyday afternoon outside trotting and ducking and diving with the weather.
My Woodland Workout group has now changed to a Thursday afternoon at 1430, come hail or shine.
So going to try two sessions per day, everyday for a little while and review as I go.
My son in law offered me his polar running watch and heart monitoring chest strap. Now going to send it and I hope I can use the chest strap with the new treadmill fitness test facility in our gym.Apparently gives some reading of VO2 Max also.
Wishing all you runners on this magic forum a bug free winter and many happy outings indoors and for some outdoors if possible.

Hi Tbae, I am so glad that you had a wonderful time in Dubai and the UAE with your family. You managed to do a little HIIT but not as much as you would have liked to, but nevertheless a little is better than none at all, that is a great time you got at the MJPDubai on the 120m indoor track, 17 seconds is excellent.
Although I am not on the magic form I still am interested in what other people and especially you my friend are doing.
Might wonder what I have been doing recently, not too much running since I achieved my PB of 32.25 on October 10, I have only ran two 5ks since but in a time of around 36/37 minutes.
Been going plenty of long walks recently, the longest was according to my new Smartphone with Mapmywalk on was just under 13K. 17655 steps, I suppose the habit of going for long walks over the last 25 years or more has stopped me from running just as much as during the summer months when I go for shorter walks and bike rides, only this year I started the running with C25K, but I will still go for short runs from time to time.
Good luck with your magic forum and as you say in your last paragraph 'I wish you a bug-free winter', whether you are running inside on a treadmill or outside.
Hi Tbae, I have just come back from rerunning run 1 of week 5 of C25K as 'revision' so to speak, I hope your blood sample to check your cholesterol goes OK.
What I meant regarding not part of the motivational magic was that I am not training to run a 10K or half marathon with the Bridge to 10K podcasts, but as you say I am part of the motivational magic forum with this wonderful family of healthunlocked C25K members advising and congratulating them on their achievements.
Yet to achieve a 37 min 5k, let alone your PB 32.25.I would give a lot to get there.
I joined the C25k Strava group many months ago Alan.So I post my stuff on there.Do you use that alsoπ€as well as map my run, etc.
I have not extended to premium so itβs free.π€.Thats a Scottish thing Alan.πππ
Do you reside in East Kilbride.π€
Had an unbelievable small world experience in Dubai.First day there.
Introduced to my daughters friend who lives in Dubai, she is a Scot from East Kilbride.Turns out her great grandfather, who she has never met was one of my journeymen when I was an apprentice nearly 60 years ago.
I live in Cumbernauld, during my 9 weeks of C25K which began on 18 April I did most of my training runs locally but the big two, run 3 of week 5 I ran 20 minutes around Lintithgow Loch on 21 May and my graduation run was along the promenade at Helensburgh on the 18 June (remember that man shouting 'gon'yersel)'
In August I bought a brand new Smartphone with 64GB compared to 2GB on my old Phone, I had such a choice of what app to install that the app I installed was Mapmyrun from reviews reporting that is was very good, I also have Spotify and installed Mapmywalk when I go long walks with music playing. π
This coming Sunday and the following Sunday there are two seasonable 5K Santa Dash runs, this Sunday in Cumbernauld the course being the same as the one I ran my PB 5K in September, the following week there is another one with up to 8,000 taking part, I will be going to both but cheering them on, not running, I am at the moment not in the mood for running a full 5k distance myself let alone running with a thousand + runners. π π
Sounds like youβve got a great plan lined up for the winter, Tbae! Iβll be starting roseabiβs HM plan on Monday, so mainly working on building distance and stamina for now. πβ€οΈ
(And donβt worry about them not wanting your blood now youβre older. Theyβve rejected me as a donor since my 20s due to my pacemakers, despite me being perfectly healthy! The fixed rules donβt really reflect your state of health. )
I'm sure there were some special memories made in UAE with your family π and it's great that you managed to fit the running in too.
You have a great plan there Tbae! I admire the way you have such a solid structure to your exercising. Mine is all over the place and changes every week but hey π
I LOVE this plan, and this will certainly keep you toasty and fit during the winter months. I Want to join a woodland Workout group, that sounds so much fun!!!!
Hi Jan and thank you for your kind support and encouragement as always.
It cooled off a bit on the second week and I deliberately tested myself during the day but trotted along as much as I could in the palm, Yasmin and many hedge shades.
Gosh it brought back many memories when I was on the team that pioneered the start up of the first aluminium smelter in the Gulf almost 50 years ago.
Had my eye on the Apple series 4 with GPS and looked at in Man/Dubai duty free, and two Apple shops in Dubai, still did not take the plunge, but found it easy to use and like the Fitbit latest watch were offering a fairly lengthy trial period before returning itπ
Canβt seem to get my head round that.
Can get my head round finding those extra gears like you have achieved, hopefullyπ€.Brillant Jan and so well done you.π₯βοΈ
Got two brillant pieces of news while there, another grandchild on its way in 2019, Inshallah, and I have been excused jury duty.ππ.
No excuses and major reasons to crack on.π€ππ
Thank you Jan and take good care of you.π₯πββοΈπ₯βοΈ
You are doing so well and your pace is impressive.
I am pleased with my almost first week of HIIT and strength.
Just easing into it gently.
My 30 second sprint intervals are now at 12 kph and I have a Polar watch and heart rate body strap coming which hopefully will be compatible with the new gym treadmills.
Really feeling very comfortable with slow crank up.
Just finding my way sensibly I hope, but enjoying the buzz.πππ
Hi Jo, Your doing great and such a flyer.Good luck with the completion of your mileage target. So well done.
Over the next 3 months I am going to build up to assessing my pace over all distances from 100m - 5k and then review and drop stuff and look at new challenges.Hopefully I will have shed the last 11kgs from around the middle.
I enjoyed following your Bosch recipe posts. They Look Brillant. Lucky OH.πππ
