Going to disappear from the forum and from outdoor running for September/October.
Mr Gardening has prevailed and I will be chilled and focused until garden is ready to be put to bed for the winter.
Actually got some other issues to address, so they will fill any wet days nicely.
Not going to abandon Mr Outside Running, not all all, will continue strength and dreadmill sessions at least 3 times per week plus my woodland workout.
So min 4. Perhaps 7 gym sessions per week.
Probably not even going to lurk , as difficult as that is.
Every good wish to all on the forum, and Strava , hopefully I will make it back in time for Abiβs speed trials.

We'll miss you Tbae . But as we've said before, gardening can be a good old workout on its own. I have a notebook with a note of all the jobs I need to do in the garden this autumn and I'm already on page 7!
Enjoy your garden and workouts and we'll see you soon π
Garden I could see far enough but needs must.πππ
Thanks for letting us know, I hate it when people drop out of sight. Good gardening and come back when the garden is sleeping. We will miss you and your emojis ππΎββοΈππππ€β ππππΆπ€π€£π
We will miss you.... stay strong, stay safe, stay healthy and happy .
"Everything that slows us down and forces patience, everything that sets us back into the slow circles of nature, is a help.Gardening is an instrument of grace"
I am so pleased to hear of your good news. That is just wonderful. What a lovely consultant and how reassuring that you are not alone.Mind you Floss how you have challenged yourself over the years perhaps you are in a minority. But it is great news.
I was humbled to also learn, apart from all your other talents and contributions your depth of knowledge of thee book.
Patience and grace what I would give to have them and when I return I know through this forum and running I can perhaps find some of their qualities also.
Your HM is at your mercy and you will kiss the ground of all 21.1 km of it.
What a wonderful job you and the team do for the forum.Extraordinary really.
Look forward to catching up again and sorry this poor helpless male cannot cope with multi tasking.TBH I am stressing myself.Sounds weak I know but that is the reality.
Your words I will cling to and they will bring me back to this gift that somehow mysteriously presented itself and was enabled and established by you, admins and the forum.
I still have to pinch myself.π₯πββοΈπ₯
Hi Tbae, if your garden needs tending to, especially that large hedge, the running has to take a little break, πI had to take a few weeks off as my right side hip got a little sore, it is no longer sore so I will resume the running with run 1 of week 1 along the promenade in Helensburgh where I ran for 30 minutes for my graduation run on 18 JuneπThis time however, the run will consist of, is it 7/1 minute runs with 6/90 second walks. You maybe aware that today I got a brand new 4g 64GB Smartphone, I still have my 3g 2GB phone to listen to when I go on my longer walksπ, especially during the winter months
Yes Alan, itβs the only way.Surrender , chill, come back.
Think thatβs where you met your go on yoursel fan.
Great about the tech stuff, Perhaps I may get a few bells and whistles.π€
Pleased that all is going well Alan.Hope I will see you at the speed challenge. could not match your pace but I might be a bit of handicap bandit so be warned.
I do not think I will meet that "go on your self" fan this time, I won't get that far, just a slow and steady pace and turn back after the 4th/1minute run which will be only half the distance of my graduation run
Oh I will miss you, dearest Tbae. But you are a wise man, so if you need some time out then I know it has been widely considered. All the best for getting your garden in shape and everything you do. Look forward to your triumphant return! xxx
Tbae! I canβt say more than has already been said - we will all definitely miss you. I will miss your wise input to my own journey. You have become one of the running buddies I look forward to reading.
We will all still be here and waiting for your glorious return. I might tag you from time to time. You donβt need to reply, itβll be my way of letting you know youβre not forgotten.
Donβt go Tbae! Youβve definitely been overdoing it with your marathon in a week regime and have probably killed off some enjoyment. Take a few days off and then go back to 3 runs a week ππ½
When I get back and resume his plan for a further 28 days and something else falls off , well he will be on his bike.πππ
Father Time is getting the blame and as you know he is laughing all the way to the bank.ππ
No loss of enjoyment, bit too much moider from the common places but hey that is no match to the magic of running.
For me now it will never be.Funny as wise people on hear have said rather die running than on the couch.Practically and when appropriate you can improve the odds.ππ
Take care of you,you will be sub 30 and more when I get back.π₯πββοΈπ₯
It is just amazing the connection that in a short time you just make with many through this forum and running.
Vulnerability and it is fundamentally why we exist to connect.
I am not wise Sadie, just shuffling along making it up.
There are many on here that hopefully un embarrassingly I can bear my soul to.
I just find that so supportive.
Came across Abiβs poll on motivation. For some reason stopped myself from answering my deep thoughts.
I think your motivation like all things running is a journey of continuous learning and improvement.
Years ago I donated my body to medical science. That is still the case.Give you a laugh, sounds easy , do not believe it, if you are not in good shape they will reject youππ, if you pass on a weekend or a bank holiday, no one available to collect you, and I had to opt out of the Welsh system, because I would be rejected if there are any missing parts.ππ
Itβs one or the other.
So some of my motivation has been for sometime now, to make that happen.
Of course over the last month, apart from toothache/mouth problem and a self inflicted rookie fever and cold,πI found something that I think that I could sustain physically with amazing benefits, stronger, lighter, little quicker and an improved mood and more energy.
Of course it was masked by the mouth problem and I honestly did not think my continuous running regime set that off. After all receeding gums is something that Father Time may control. There was only one answer get rid of the pain, end of.π
I do know I will return and I want to keep me ticking over to go off on a Streak again and take part in the speed challenge providing it is on a handicap basis.
The chilled single tasking poor male approach is the only option for me .Cannot cope with the stress and thankfully unlike many I am fortunate I do not have to.
Take care of you and giving your care and wisdom to the forum.
Cannot believe the magic of running and this forum actually exists.Thats the reality.π₯πββοΈπ₯
If I can use physical strength it helps me feel stronger internally. Rather like driving my big truck, I thought if I can learn to steer that and do it well maybe I can drive my life with as much skill (or at least panache!) π
Good luck with the maintenance. We're rubbish at that. I fear I shall just have to buy a new house down the line π€£ I jest...with too much truth. But whilst we can get out and run and ride bikes and be under the sky it seems to me that has to have priority.
If the stress bears down just have a small break and breathe to the count of 6 in and 6 out. Think of us standing with you. You're an inspiration, don't ever forget that π€
Thatβs a shame Tbae but weβll look forward to seeing you again on here when the garden is all in order. Very sensible decision if youβve got a lot of pruning and stuff to get through it all takes energy and heavy on the back.
Hi Tbae, Iβm glad to return from nearly 3 weeks of very little signal in time to see this. Weβll miss you, but thanks for letting us know. Happy gardening and I look forward to your return. π
Iβm happy to say, after many weeks of physio exercises & cycling, I am finally creeping off the IC. Tried W1R1 cautiously and my knee was ok. Hopefully by the time you return I will be frolicking well! π
Maybe change the garden to potted shrubs, plastic flowers and AstroTurf π. Although I canβt quite see you getting away with that! At least you wonβt lose your fitness with such a lot to do.
Itβs amazing you know I re landscaped the garden/tweaked really and replanted with the help of a very knowledgable lady landscape gardnerer, 6 years ago for both my daughters getting married.
It was amazing even she learnt a lot because we are so close to the coast, Irish Sea.That can be tough on plants from a harsh winter like last year.
Even with expertise, diligence and care after a few years, some shrubs etc are past there best.
My real graft are the hedges.
We seemed to be now a cat sanctionary in the area and gosh can several play havoc with the condition of a lawn.
Your advice and support on here is reassuring Annie.
Take good care of you.π₯πββοΈπ₯
I have had more trouble with some of my five boundary neighbours than the hedges.ππ
Got to laugh. They would bring tears to a glass eye.ππ
Will miss you Tbae. You gave me support when the vertigo took hold, for which I thank you. Enjoy the gardening and the gym sessions. Keep well, keep safe and see you back here in due course π»
Aw, will be a big void in the forum without you Tbae ...take care of yourself & I will look forward to your return...gardening is a good way of keeping fit plus all the gym work etc...truly inspiring for all of us ...see you soon my friend x
