Parkrun numero uno. Completed ...!

I had arranged to go with my neighbour to my first ever parkrun. They dropped out last minute and I was 'uming and erming' should I go alone ? It's raining , my foot hurts a bit, my calves are tight, my stars are not aligned......insert cop out.

When I just decided , wowsers today is the day, I've had my porridge early, im fuelled up....carb ready. So I elected my poor hubby to get up and drive me.

Arrived at the parkrun, left husband with bacon roll and my gear in the cafe. Last minute decision, I gave him my phone and hence no MMR....I was going to free style.

Set off at the very back, after approx 30 seconds , was boiling and had to wrap sweater round waist.! It was drizzling and cold but I was steaming ๐Ÿ˜Ž.

It's a 3 lap course and I'm not going to lie, the 3rd lap was an effort...usually I run 5k in 40 to 45 mins so I wanted to do this faster today. I felt like I had...but was without a watch or phone. Collected my chip....all good went to pick up husband.

It was a tense wait for my time, but it came in at just over 35 minutes, I was well chuffed with that as a first time.

I think the sub 30 is within my grasp sometime in the future !

Yes I'm glad I wenr...I'd been putting it off ... ! Planning on going next week, I didn't mind the rain really but I do need to get some more running gear. Some thing to keep me dry but not too hot. I'm like an old boiler. There was steam coming off me when I'd finished.

I know what you mean about getting too hot. I donโ€™t have a waterproof running jacket either, Iโ€™d roast for certain. I do have a thin long sleeved running top (used it once), which would at least dry quickly if it got wet, and itโ€™s breathable too. ๐Ÿ‘

Well Done Snuffy. It would have been so easy to back out with your neighbour. I hope hubby enjoyed his bacon roll too.

Yes he did, im a veggie, so he takes any opportunity to eat bacon when out of the house !

In that case you might find he volunteers to take you every week. Win win .

I graduated C25k on October 1st, so I've waited about 7 weeks to build up my confidence. I enjoyed it...pushed myself a bit more. If I'm still doing this running lark in the new year I may even join a running club ! You definitely need to try it and see if you like it.

I graduated 3 weeks ago... just done my first 5 k but not confident to run with anyone else yet.. just need to keep running 3 times a week although going to try the longer run once a week from now on.. see what happens..

You'll know when your ready.

There are quite a few local park runs near me. So I looked at the results pages, I could see that there was a good mix of finish times and ages, so that took the edge off. You won't regret going, and it's free !

Great first parkrun Snuffy! And especially well done on going with the weather being as hideous as it was yesterday. Fantastic first time too. ๐Ÿ˜
