No 10k for me this week ...

... as I've been breaking these ugly buggers in.

I have very wide feet, possibly the widest feet in the world, and my previous running shoes were a tad too narrow. Not a real problem until I started increasing my running distances. I wasn't too uncomfortable whilst actually running, but anything over 8k would leave me hobbling for the next few hours.

So I finally found the time to get me some new ones, and here they are. They aren't the prettiest, but are so much more comfortable. I've done a 5k run and a 7k run in them this week, and so far so good.

Wish me luck for my next 10k!

PS sorry about the mud splashes on them - forgot to get a picture before I wore them!πŸ‘ŸπŸ‘Ÿ

I will keep on searching - a good excuse to buy more shoes!

I'm now trying some wide Brooks. The original ones - fitted by a very nice gentleman in a proper running shop - give me horrendous blisters on anything over 10k. I've bought the wide ones direct from Brooks and am amazed that they will give a full refund up to 90 days after purchase, however much they are worn. Fingers crossed these will solve the problem, no refund needed.

Oooh, let us know how you get on! Like you, my Brooks were fitted in a running shop, and were fine for C25K, but longer distances hurt. No blisters, just pain on both sides of the ball of my foot.

But if I can trial them for 90 days I can't really go wrong. Watch this space!

That's what I thought. The shop have been great and will still exchange them for me (or o they said last time I called!), so if these wide ones work out, I will end up with two pairs, but that's fine. I'm sure Brooks do an extra wide fitting as well.

As you’ve pointed out, it doesn’t matter what they look like, it’s what they do that counts! Glad you’re a lot more comfortable now Tc πŸ˜πŸ‘

🀣🀣🀣 Thanks to harsh school days I’m used to being shunned for not being fashionable, and not caring UTS! 🀣🀣🀣

I'm guessing UpTheStanley has never tried running in stilettos, else he'd know that beauty is over-rated ! πŸ‘ πŸ‘

Muddy shoe porn is a niche market πŸ˜‚

They’ll soon be hugging your feet over a 10k

Happy to oblige UNM. I'll be running across muddy fields next week, so can post a picture of seriously dirty shoes for you if you like!

They look good to me πŸ˜ƒ My brother has to wear the boxes as nothing fits his tiny, mega-wide feet (he’s 56 btw so they have stopped growing!). Hope they serve you very well - you’ll love them when they’re old and worn and have hugged your feet for hundreds of miles 😁
