Before and since my Parkrun on Saturday Iโm still experiencing stiff muscles and tenderish ankles (I know...im so technical! ๐). All in all, just a bit achy. So, I put it down to running on empty and perhaps rest will put that straight. Not sure if thereโs a cold brewing here! ๐ฏ hope not! ๐
So, I was tempted to go out yesterday, but with some wise guidance UnfitNoMore gave, I decided not to push it. ๐ค
Today was intended to be a relaxed run to see how I felt. I aimed for 2k. I did 2.39 to get back to my door. Why not eh? ๐ It was relaxed, no strain but definitely not a lose run either. Hard to explain. I did have a nice turbo boost at the end, close to home. That definetly blew off some cobwebs!! The waterfall afterwards is OTT for such a short run. So Iโm on the watch out for a cold, but hopefully that wonderful bit of fresh air, will have done wonders. ๐๐! A long run wouldnโt have worked for me today. I just feel good having got out there.
Now for a nice hot shower!! Happy running Runners! ๐คโค๏ธ

Fingers crossed youโve scared off any cold thatโs brewing. Donโt mess with Fab! ๐
Isnโt it great how something as simple as a short run can be a real tonic. It would be so easy to sloonge around and feel negative and sorry for yourself. But a run soon gets rid of all that malarkey. Good for you! ๐๐๐
Thank you Cheeky! Youโre so right. I was feeling a bit flat but thatโs picked me up a lot!! Back to feeling nicely pumped! Iโll take short over zero! ๐๐โค๏ธ
Sounds just the ticket, dear Fab. I too had a short โtonicโ run this morning. Short runs leave me so energised for the day ahead. ๐ Hope you are not brewing a cold. Take care lovely. x
I've found that a 5k Park Run takes more out of me than a 10 or 15k. I expect it's because there's a sense of competition and I know I push way harder during a Park Run. The last one I did I knocked a huge chunk off my 5k PB. My legs felt it afterwards though!
Thanks Mike! ๐ Iโm a bumble along kind of runner ๐. Thereโs so many spectacular runners, I just go along for the buzz and itโs great.
I started late and was already achy and I got settled in way at the back. But Sunday/Monday aches is definitely not how I normally feel. It was good to get out there today! ๐โค๏ธ
Thanks UNM! The words push and run donโt equal enjoy to me, so a short run was definitely right for today. Thanks for the encouragement as always! ๐ค Like you say, Iโll be back! Just getting out there and letting it flow! ๐๐ฝโค๏ธ
Well done for listening to your body Fabz ๐ค And it sounds like your run had a touch of the "Goldilocks" ~ not too long, not too short, just right ๐ Take care of yourself, hope you can get some rest ๐๐ฆ
This sounds like the perfect run for you today Fabulous450 โฆ.no pressure runs are always perfect when we're not sure whats going on....hopefully youre not coming down with anything but if you do...rest & TLC are the answer xx
Thank you Mummycav!! Iโm being mindful before going out there and that way, if Iโm feeling good, I can always do more. ๐โค๏ธ
Well done! Take care with the muscle eh? Iโm still a great advocate of stretching, and I intend to quiz my physio about the best ankle stretches for me when I see him on Friday. Still very impressed by your parkrun
Oh thank you Neil! Youโre right, I was thinking that Iโm not doing much stretching after a run.๐งโบ๏ธ I do need to sort that out! Thanks for the reminder! ๐คโค๏ธ
It's worth consulting a physio or something, as I have heard conflicting things. For me what works is that I now stretch before a run as well as after, because one of my issues was tightness in calf muscles etc, and my physio said that I'm less likely to injure myself if my muscles are well stretched, because their range of movement is increased, so if I do suddenly increase my stride length, or leap over a puddle or something, I'm not as likely to strain the muscles. All I can say is that it definitely worked for me, and has transformed my running recently, not to mention the dent in the wallet the physio has left lol!
Thanks Neil! Thatโs helpful. I used to stretch before and after too. Iโve just got a bit lazy! Right....time to get my stretch on! ๐! Thank you!! โค๏ธ
Hi fab ...great you did your recovery run easily and hope your not in for the cold ๐คง. ..ive not run since last sunday ..hurt my foot whilst doing 5 k ..so waiting another week till i get back at it ...will do a short run see how i get on ....fingers crossed your ok take care ๐๐
Ah thanks Myrar! Iโve decided to aim for short runs this week and if I can go on longer I will. Plus get back to stretching as our VRB 316neil suggests. I hope your recovery goes well too. Rest well and Iโll see you on the VR Myrar!! ๐คโค๏ธ
Your runs always sound lovely and chilled I think of you when Iโm struggling to do 5k and get to 4 and Iโve had enough, you make me think they are my runs for my enjoyment and thatโs thanks to you ๐
Ah thank you so much Bridget! I believe thatโs my recipe for the long haul. I reckon we must get better every time we go out, even with those that seem a bit under par! ๐๐ Iโll have it!๐คฉ โค๏ธ
Thanks ThunderSloth! The cheeky ones are the best! Didnโt see that one coming did ya Gremlins?!! Did it just because I can! ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐๐ฝโค๏ธ
