A good week

Not posted much in a while but this week has been a good one for running so I’ll share the highlights.

Did my last run of October on Tuesday and topped 100km in the month for the first time. Plus I realised it’s over six months since I first ran 10K. This year is really flying by.

Then went out this morning for a long run and took 2 mins off my 10k PB which I was really surprised by. I think a combination of the colder weather, nice flat route by the canal and having upped my distance (21k a few weeks back) has really helped. Knew I was going faster than usual but it felt fine so just stuck with it. I was obsessed with getting faster for a long time. Then I had a few injuries and eased off and started to try and just enjoy it. Oddly enough the speed seems to be slowly sorting itself out- probably a lesson in there somewhere.

And now the week is rounded off with some new shoes. Decided to go to the local running shop and get my gait analysed again. Hasn’t really changed (still all over the place) but good to know. Opted for some Brooks as a change from my New Balance - seem to have a bit more grip which will be good with winter approaching. They might get a run out today or tomorrow if I can persuade the eldest to do a couple of k with me.

The photo is our village church which looked great at 6.30 this morning with a stunning red sky behind - annoyingly I have managed not to capture the red sky in the photo 😀

100km in a month - wow. You must get through your shoes pretty quickly with that distance. The new ones look very swish- I do like brooks.

Thanks. 100km is a bit on the high side for me but was trying for half marathon distance.

Looking forward to trying the Brooks. I couldn’t choose between them and the New Balance last time so good to give them a go this time round. Cheaper than I expected too 😀

Sounds like a great week! Nice shoes too. I've just checked my monthly running distance🏃 Never thought about it before 65.5km and 174 in total since I bought my Brooks. Doesn't it add up quickly!

Yes it’s amazing how it all adds up. I suspect it may not always be wise to check the stats all the time but I do find it motivating to see the progress
