A lovely surprise for a lovely morning. My first 5k 😊😊

Well what a surprise that was. Dismissing the gremlins this morning I decided to make the most of the lighter mornings while they last, and set off for a 3k runπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

But when I got to 3k I carried on to 4k and when I got there, decided I’d got more left in the tank and went on to run my first 5k ever 🌟🌟🌟

Now to those of you who are regularly running 10K plus, that might sound like piffle but having graduated from C25K in August, I’ve not been able to get past 4K and so last night set myself a target of running 5k by Christmas and then starting ju-ju’s 10K plan in the new year. I’ve beaten my own target by 7 weeks 😯

Four hours later and I’m still on a high and have decided that I can now post on Bridge to 10K as I’m at least half way thereπŸ€—. No great speed- still a 🐌 at 45 minutes, but a very happy 🐌

Will try and consolidate the 5k over the next few weeks and then who knows πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Hope you can all enjoy the lovely running conditions while they last😊

Congratulations 🍾🍾🍾🍾first 5k is a real buzz, mine was only a few weeks ago and am still running 5k and each one feels more comfortable. Like you I'm yet to jump on the 10k bus. There's no rush, just enjoy running.πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈπŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ

Thanks Tinker. Good to know you’re still running 5k regularly- I’d hate it to be a one off.

Absolutely no rush- you’re so right there 😊

Brilliant well done - I’m in your gang except I graduated last Oct and did my first 5 k in May - I still can’t do it in less than 37 minutes but I guess slow is ok - my aim is 7 k by Christmas I’ve started Ju Ju 10 k last week happy running πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

Thanks Heartlesstroll. Think the timing thing is irrelevant to me at the moment but I’d definitely be very happy with 37 minutes. Go youπŸ‘

Will watch to see how you get on with the 10K plan 😊. Good luck πŸ˜‰

It’s not easy took me 6 months from graduate to running 5 k - just not getting any faster πŸ˜₯ just looked at Run 3 it’s 6 km not sure I can manage that ☹️

I’ve decided that speed is overrated- and it’s certainly not prioritised on this forum. 🐌speed works for me.

You will be able to manage 6km at some point though- so just keep at it until you can- then move onto Run 4. Huge apologies if that’s not how the programme works- haven’t properly checked it out yet 😯

Woo hoo! I regularly run 10km, but I certainly do not see that first 5k as piffle! It is flipping amazing! And I remember mine very well indeed, as it is a massive achievement. Well done Beanjo! Just keep doing what you are doing as it is clearly working. :-) xxx

Thanks Sadie. 😊 I do see it as a huge achievement seeing as I struggled to run for 60 seconds back in June.

10K regularly- I can but dream πŸƒβ€β™€οΈπŸ˜Š

"10K regularly- I can but dream" – that's what I said back in June this year…never say never! :-)

Congratulations Beanjo for running your first 5K today. I bet you feel very happy about that run. I ran my first full 5k on 6 October and felt so delighted as you will feel today, once again, well done πŸ˜€

That’s strange AlMorr- thought I’d replied to you but can’t see it anywhere! Anyway thank you for the encouragement and well done on your first 5k too πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

Well done. And Welcome. Nobody is going to think your achievement isn’t much. We all had to work up to 10k and it’s good to consolidate then build distance gradually, so you are doing all the right things.

Thanks for the encouragement Flick. Think it’s largely down to the great folk on here that has kept me going- certainly over the last few weeks 😊

5k is a run that needs effort, however much further you end up being able to run. It was a huge mental barrier for me and my first few - late June- were around that time. I’m now 10 minutes faster.

You’ve found 5k in a lovely way. I hope your journey to 10k is equally lovely, but do keep coming back to 5ks.

Aw thank you Jay and well done on 10 minutes faster. That sounds fantastic. 😊
