I contacted my local running club and was invited to go along for a look see. What a lovely bunch of people. Very welcoming. I asked for the slowest group doing the shortest distance which turned out to be a nice relaxed 10K. Which actually is my longest distance, so I might only be joining them for my long runs until I get my mileage up a bit. Anyway, membership fees are very reasonable so I might take the plunge. Hopefully I can get some good coaching on intervals and strides and all sorts of stuff. See how much I can improve faster than age takes it away again.
However, I suspect my main enjoyment will continue to come from running with just my own company and chilling out.
