After a sleepless night due to a car alarm going off I didn't feel confident of a good run of the way to the race, particularly as the drive was through a massive downpour and I was thinking it would be more of a swim than a run.
However the sun broke through on the walk from the car park to the start and as it turned out it shone brightly for the whole of the race.
It was hard to judge numbers but I reckon about 500 started. I was near the front as we set off and was straight away passed by the quicker runners (most of themππ) but I settled into a decent rhythm quickly and managed to go along at a pretty quick pace, for me at least.
The route turned out to be pretty much a there and back again from Hexham to Corbridge along a closed minor road and we had some great views across the Tyne Valley, the trees putting on a spectacular autumn show.
All my splits we well under 7 minutes per km and I even managed to pass a few people on the way back!!!, I crossed the line in 1 hour and 4 minutes, just missing my best 10k time by a minute but still very happy with that.
Still waiting for an E Mail with my final position but not to worried about that, I took part and ran well, that's all that matters.
Now to start upping the distance again in preparation for the Northumberland 10 miler in 4 weeks!!.
Run happy, run safe.
