Ran my first ever race yesterday and I was so excited! I had major butterflies all the way in on the train to Manchester. As we walked down to the start line another runner who had finished said to drink lots of water because it was horrible but even that didnโt dampen my spirits. Mo Farah started us off which was fabulous! Lots of cheering as we slowly set off. It was seriously hot for me and my lovely pale skin but I was ok for the first few k. It was hard to run at my pace because there was a lot of people to get round. My only tactic was head for any shade I could see! The sun was beating down and the heat was rising up from the road too. Managed to high five a little boy on my way round ๐ the atmosphere was great even though we were the last wave of runners there was still lots of people cheering us on. Thankgod for the water mist stations (donโt know their official name) they really helped revive me although the shock of the water made me need a wee too ha! After 6k I had to walk for a bit which I donโt like to do because I find it hard to get going again but it was so hot I had to. Managed to run/walk the rest and ran through the finish line!

Well done, that's a great picture. It must have been hard in that heat.
