Really excited to do first Parkrun on the perfect morning today. Had some lovely support from my daughter and granddaughter so I jogged along towards the back. I thought I really pushed myself more than usual and tbh I don’t think I’ve done a full 5K before! I picked up the token at the end and got it scanned along with my barcode, but when I checked a couple of hours later I’m not on there! I’ve got a time on MapMyRun, but think I’d already stopped and chatted before I clicked finish so not really accurate. It was a great atmosphere and good fun so I’ll try and get the barcode sorted before I do it again! Anyone else had this problem?

First Park run - no time recorded!
Hi Neelie13, sometimes they have problems with the scanning and runs show up as unknown. You need to visit your local parkrun Facebook page or email them to let them know. If you can give an approximate time zone or can remember the number on your finish token it helps a lot. Well done on your first parkrun . Warning : some of us have become addicted to it. 😂
If you know you had your barcode scanned then email them with as much information as you have. But do it today - they will be happy to correct it if you contact them timeously (and politely, that goes without saying) but as unpaid volunteers they won’t be happy if you contact them several days later when they’ve closed everything down.
Oh no what a shame Neelie. Did you get an email? Or is there an ‘unknown’ person around the time you think you were?
It happens from time to time, just means either your barcode or finish token didn’t scan properly. If you email them with your parkrun number (the number on your barcode) and approximate time, telling them you were scanned on the day, they will usually find a spare result in around the right time and add you in. The email address will be on your run’s site, they are usually xxxoffice@parkrun.com (where xxx is your parkrun’s name, e.g. Southsea parkrun is southseaoffice@parkrun.com). If you are going to become a parkrun regular (and please do) it’s worth investing in one of the low cost plastic card or wristband barcodes you can get. They scan much more reliably than a paper barcode.
Thanks all for your encouragement, I’m not wingeing, just a newbie at this running stuff!! Also I just don’t believe the sub 40 mins time recorded on MapMyRun! I was thinking I would be happy sub 50 mins. It would have been great to see it verified. There is an unknown at 37 mins and also at 44!! I’m trying to match up the age group to my fellow finishers, but neither seem quite right. Who knows?! I’ve sent an email so fingers crossed🤞🤞
It seems a little odd if the scanner beeped for the barcode and token, as others have said there may be some sort of glitch in the system. If you have folded the barcode or it has got wet sometimes it’s hard to scan. Did you sign up to get your result by email, if so, did it arrive?
Well done!
Maybe a scanner problem, it happened at mine a few weeks ago, a couple of runners were lost..
Give as much information as possible (name, parkrun ID, finish time/position, any runner you remember just before or after you, and what you were wearing (so they can try to find you on the photos, if any were taken).
