After 2 days away without running, this morning I wanted to have a good start to the weekend. I was up early, but watching for the darkness to lift. It wasnβt doing very much lifting, so I prepared for 7am as whatever the darkness there would no doubt be traffic.
Faffing (as usual), it was more like 7:20am when I went out. However, it was a blanket of fog!! A bit of a chill in the air, but long sleeves and my new neoprene gloves had me nice and cosy, until I was able to get the running heat turned up a bit.
I had a great power song to bring me almost exactly to my door at 5k!! My fastest 5k to date at 36:05! That was a great run! Feeling Fabulous and ready for a great day!! ππ

Very well done!! The singing bit made me laugh! I did that yesterday and only remembered to look round afterwards!!! You canβt beat a great early morning run to set you up for the day!! πββοΈππ
Thanks Gazloc!! That was without a care in the world. I knew I wasnβt going to make it to Park run today, as I had plans to be out for the day, but decided Iβd do my own 5k before setting out. Iβve had a brilliant day all around. πβ€οΈ
Iβm about to crawl out of my pit and face the day, and youβve done that already. Love the description as always... Iβd have to play horror movie soundtracks in that.
Well obviously I will still be in bed... but if you thought Iβd do it... π
My neighbours did complain the last time I used it... anyone would have thought I was trying to kill someone... ok, it was early, and dark, and summer, but I figured that tree needed to go when I woke up and if you donβt strike while the ironβs hot...
A pb AND an enjoyable run - you are a born runner! I ran with my niece yesterday so slowed her down considerably but I discovered I canβt run and chat at the same time!! Itβs only the second run with company (parkruns excepted) I enjoyed it though.
Aah thank you Tinker! I donβt feel speedy but I did feel comfortable. And my power song had me under 5:0 pace in the final stage (for a little bit π). Thought I may as well go with the feeling!! ππβ€οΈ
Good work, Fab! I also had a wee sing on my run this morning (Like a Prayer, Madonna π). And like you I woke up early and waited for it to get light - didnβt get out until 7:30am! Sun and autumn mist for me.
Love the joy in your posts! Keep at it, you are doing amazing! ππ xxx
I have to run in the dark before work during the week, so itβs a treat to be able to go to the woods/park on the weekend. π During the week, I stick to the roads, and although I kinda like running in the dark, I miss sunshine and the woodlands. xxx
Brilliant Fab! Looks very mysterious with the fog, and what a great time! πππ
It was foggy at parkrun too, but it didnβt stop us volunteers seeing the uber gazelle cross the finish line in 16.08! Hello? Are you a real person? πππ
We knew he meant business at the start. He shot off like a hare out of the traps and did the first small 1k loop in 3 minutes something! Sadly he didnβt get the course record of just over 15 minutes. Can you imagine being that fast?!! ππππππππ
Fabulous day Mike!! Iβve been to the theatre in London to watch my niece in the matinee performance of Dreamgirls. Thatβs my lovely late brotherβs daughter. He has a very talented young lady! Brilliant day. πβ€οΈ
It's getting hard with the dark mornings now, isn't it. Glad you had a happy run.
I'm always singing when I run on my own. I must try it at the Parkrun one day, it'll be my secret weapon - they will all be laughing so much, I'll whizz past them...
Oh thank you OF!! π I really enjoyed it. I didnβt think Iβd have time to do a 5k today, but as it was so enjoyable, I decided to go for it and make good use of that feeling during the run. πβ€οΈ
Ah thanks Southlundon!! π€ I wasnβt keen to take on the winter season, but honestly it really was great right from the start!! I was much more wary on my park run in the dark at the start of the week. No torch needed this morning! ππ½β€οΈ
Lovely write up Fabulous! I've been known to sing along to the headphones as well! Glad you had a great run there - I am so itching to go - been tapering this week and only put in 4k and a 3k this week and I really really wanted to do park run today Who'd have thought it?!
Thanks Ang! π€ Iβm hoping to make it to Marlborough one day too!! I imagine it would be quite open and foggy there. Iβm sure you did a great run too!! ππβ€οΈ
Glad to hear youβre still having fun with your running, Fabulous! And well done on a new PB too! ππ»ππ»ππ» ππββοΈπ₯β€οΈ
The mornings are getting pretty dark arenβt they. I found it fairly chilly still around here at 9am for Parkrun, but it was sunny and warm later, so
I was then walking around in a Tshirt. (Funny considering I ran Parkrun in a T-shirt with a longsleeved top over it!ππ)
Thank you!! π€π! It is pretty chilly in the mornings and evenings too!! Taking on the season and what to wear is definitely new territory. Sounds like you had a great run too!! πβ€οΈ
Thank you Razouski!! π The PB was a nice surprise. I would have been very happy just doing the 5k, so I got more than I bargained for!! πππβ€οΈ
Thank you Faith! Oh yes it certainly is a great feeling to get a PB while running and singing, totally oblivious to time. ππβ€οΈ
Fantastic run and fab time Fabulous! Thereβs just something about the fog and mist isnβt there all quiet and mysterious π! Mind you I had been driving for an hour in that so I was already at work when you were running.
I love autumn and winter the best for running in and it is my favourite time of the year.βοΈβοΈπ«.
I chuckled when you mentioned your singing π€£π€£π€£,as Iβve done that too and you do wonder if thereβs anyone else who can hear you.Although for me it nearly always only the sheep and cows who can hear me singing .......
Now I know why they run to the other side of the fields quickly π€£π€£π€£π€£
Well thatβs my story .....hee!hee!
Anyway great photo Fabulous and happy runningπββοΈπββοΈX
It was my first experience of running in the fog and it was great!!
Iβve run past Guernsey cows when on my work travels and they do sometimes have a look as though theyβre thinking, here she is again.....π!! π€£π€£! The horses have looked more intrigued though. π I love to see them and do give them a wink and a wave or a thumbs up!! ππ½ππ½..... ππ½, as Iβm passing by!! π
I hope we all have many more enjoyable winter running experiences!! β€οΈ
