Aaand, it was kinda by accident, and kinda because... Well. I'm a big competitive kid. I set off thinking to myself "I'll go for 5 for definite, and maybe stretch for six. Maybe 6.5 or so. I had a good idea of where j wanted to stop, too. Then... Cheekychipmunks happened. You see, me and her graduated within a week of each other. Aaaand, I haven't been training as hard as her. Yes, there are reasons. The 15 hour days, not getting home until midnight several nights a week. But, I've been falling behind, and sometimes you have to push hard to catch up. So today, I pushed. And as I kept on going, every time I was feeling it, my playlist stepped up to the plate and gave me the motivation to keep going. Huey Lewis, the Rocky theme tune, Robert Palmer.
It was very tough at times, too. I had to dynamically massage my right hip several times, (hit it with the heel of my hand firmly several times to make it shut up) and I'm pretty sure the furrow between my eyebrows is deeper than it was this morning.
My main motivation? Not being beaten by a girl. Even if she is one of my favourite VRB's.

Why thankyou, Im hoping that with the end of the month looming, (and back to normal work!) I recon I'll be able to get to 10k by mid next month if i remain consistent...
A friend of mine signed up for the Cardiff half marathon next year, so... π€
Doms? Just googled it: I tend not to, but j think I'll have some lingering tiredness for the next couple of days, which will suck: I'm in for a sixteen hour days tomorrow... Multipack of monster on the way to work, methinks?
Bet youβre secretly punching the air that Iβm off with the sniffles this week! Great job on your 7.5k - bet you felt epic! π
Brilliant, hopefully we can smash 10k around the same time too? Iβm hoping to get the 8k under my belt next week, then see what happens if I go for 9k the week after ..... and then ....... π³π³π³
Crikey Iβm getting butterflies. But now I know exactly what my 10k route is, it somehow feels achievable. π¦ π¦
How about you Jundal? Got a route? Thereβd better be a pretty darned massive crate of πΎπΎπΎ af the ready! πββοΈππΎ
Tbh, I've not really got a route planned but it will be reminiscent of today, just an ambly, not too much up and downy route. I probably could have pushed for further yesterday, but I thought an extra 3.5k over the last run was enough! I'm gonna try for a leisurely 2-3k on Sunday, then maybe an 8-8.5 on tuesday, if I can manage it. I think I might do a couple of 9k's to get the legs strengthened before trying for 10. And then who knows? Probably gonna be training for a half marathon. By the 10 percent rule, we can both push from 10k to half marathon in 12 weeks. We'll just have to see!
All this is unbelievable! June10th this year I was a confirmed non runner. June 11th I started C25K W1R1. Any doubters should read this forum! πββοΈπββοΈππ
