My journey towards the magic 10 continues. A lovely, bright morning with cloud cover making almost perfect running conditions today.
Inspired by having read the first half of 'Born to Run' by Christopher McDougall, I set of happy, relaxed and confident. I did 11 laps of my field, starting off at what felt like a steady pace. My split announcements suggested I was running at 6 mins 30-ish per k, which sounded a bit too fast but when I hit 5k in around 33 minutes I was feeling fine so just ran by how I felt.
I completed my 9k in 58 minutes 46 seconds which meant I maintained my average pace for the whole distance. Only a few squirrels around today and no deer. I'm enjoying the sense of achievement, recording a new longest distance record. I felt strong at the end and could have done another kilometre, but I'm being very disciplined in following the programme to the letter. Next up is my final run of week 6, a 5k on Tuesday morning. I hope you enjoy your running this week!

Hello flyingred , sounds like everything is going well for you and you will do 10k easily. I loved my 9k run and also felt I could go on until I went flying ( maybe I need to change my name).
I will be watching you steam ahead and wishing I was running it with you. 🏃👏
Thank you for your encouragement Dexy. I wouldn't say it was easy but I'm pretty determined. I too loved my 9k run. I hope you're on the mend and off the IC before too long!
