Park run tourism

Hello fellow runners,

Last Saturday I did my first park run. It was really fun and I can't wait for the second one next week.

I am thinking to start some sort of park run tourism! So I invite people to run in my neighbourhood and I also run in other park run. For example, the course in Liyod park (south London) is beautiful so if any of you guys like to come to join me in my second run that will be great. I am also planning one day to go to a park run along the sea. Do you have any suggestions? If you run in a coastal city I'd love to come and join you.

Not sure if what I suggested is practical but these are only ideas to pre-empt any feeling of monotony or boredom!

Let me know what you think!

Good idea, why not? If you (or anyone else) feels like doing Southsea (up and down the prom) when I am (most weeks at present) I'd be happy to welcome you beforehand and go for a coffee and bacon sarni afterwards, without necessarily committing to run together. And a post on here on a Monday stating intentions to do a tourist run somewhere (anywhere) the following weekend might well bring a response from a like-minded soul who runs at the intended venue (though if that snowballed it might need a new "community" setting up to avoid swamping this one, which has a different specific purpose).

Great idea! I did my first ‘tourist’ parkrun at Blickling on Saturday (my ‘regular’ is Wimpole). I think I read somewhere that in the parkrun world the official designation of ‘tourist’ is given to runners who have completed 20 or mor different parkruns - sounds like a good target to aim for! If anyone wants to join me at Wimpole you’re most welcome- you’ll need trail shoes and there is a bit of a hill in the middle, affectionately known as ‘the hill of death’!
