Hi all,
Sorry for the radio silence & thank you to everyone who replied to my face plant post! Save a few scabs & bruises I’m ok apart from a sore shoulder which I must have jarred when I hit the deck. It’s not stopped me though!
Today I set off for my run; a few hundred yards in and I nearly turned back. My head was thumping with every step and I felt a bit sick 🤢. But it’s amazing what a run can do!! In my quest to reach 10K, my challenge today was to run for 50 minutes or 8k whichever came sooner. A beautiful brisk autumnal morning, cool but sunny with blue skies. I’ve knitted together a few routes to try to get the distance in, and am making the most of the field footpaths and bridleways before the autumn & winter weather make them impassable and I’m forced onto the much more boring and hard on the knees roads!! So a pretty route through two farms, through fields of cows with calves, sheep with large lambs, a copse, and other public byways.
Once I got past 1k I was feeling much better. I admit there were times when my head was saying you could just walk, and my hips were saying ow, ow, ow,......but I persevered! Today’s route was a bit up and down as you can see. Welcome to The Cotswolds 🤗.
I was right chuffed to meet my target, and felt like I could have carried on (particularly as the next part of the run would have been a nice gentle downhill!) but time had run out - I was about to be late for work if I didn’t get a wiggle on!!! So I stopped at target & headed home for a quick shower.
As with C25K I’ve been trying to gradually increase my distance without stressing myself or my body too much, although I know my pace has dropped from my 5k runs - one thing at a time!! This is my PB for distance- the furthest I have ever run. Yippee!!!!
Happy running all.
