Having a fika as the Swedes call it.Coffee & cake.No running, so no cake for me.π
We exist to connect.
Sorry for the poor picture taken from a calander.π
This is my birth place.
You are looking at the River Leven that separates Argyll shire and Inverness shire.
On the right is Argyll where the aluminium smelter was built and operated from 100 years ago.π€
The original hydro electric power station still operates today and is the long building on the right.
The building in the foreground and to the right of the bridge is grade two listed and is the highest indoor ice wall in Europe. It was opened by Her Majesty the Queen.
The mountain range are some of the Mamores which join with the Nevis range. Most mountain ranges in this area are Munroβs, all greater than 3000 feet.
The long building on the Inverness shire side behind the River Leven is the Kinlochleven JS school that serves other villages near by, Glencoe, Ballachulish and others.
Gaelic is widely spoken in the much older villages than Kinlochleven.Kinlochleven was the first village in the UK to have DC electrical street lighting when the smelter and hydro electric scheme was built. The black water reservoir still functions, it stands near Rannoch Moor and probably to this day is the largest free standing dam in Europe. It is some three quarters of a mile long.
Too much information.π
Enjoy the magic of your running and the magic of your forum.

Ah...youβve got me reminiscing for some Munros, Tbae ! Have been to Kinlochleven many times over the last few decades. Even tried the indoor ice climbing for a bit of fun once! πβ€οΈβ€οΈ
Beautiful autumn colours on your calendar shows what we have to look forward to Tbae. My 3k today ended up at a cafe with cappuccino and a toasted tea cake. They know us well and the first thing they bring is a carafe of water and some tumblers - it saves carrying water.
Lovely special treatment for special runners. What is not to like and what is difficult to understandπ€.ππππ₯πββοΈπββοΈπ₯
Oh Bob that did make me smile. I have my own Scotsman at home who can ramble on at length at most parts of Scotland... I think it's in the blood ππ
