So I wasn’t going to do this.... I was perfectly happy running 5k forever..... until my 26yr old daughter challenged me.
So here I am, run one of Ju-Ju’s plan in the bag 😁 9 weeks from 10k

Loved this plan - really good sense of achievement! Good luck!
Bet you get to 10k in less than 9 weeks 😉🏃🏼♀️
Haha no bets, that’s what got me into this mess 😂😂
Just kidding, I am so excited and loving this running malarkey.
Still can’t believe that 9 weeks ago I worried about doing 3 mins running 🙌🏻
I know that feeling! I only started at the beginning of April but running has become a big part off my life now
Wow, and you are sub30 🙌🏻 I’m hoping for that one day but happy to keep taking it steady and get there in time.
Thanks, it is one of those bizarre goals that doesn't seem to have any spec significance. I am now trying to run more slowly, so that i can run longer, unleashing my inner snail lol
Well done Emma, I’ve started this week too. Welcome to big school. 🏃♀️👏
Hi Emma, I’ve just realised that you only graduated last week. I don’t want to dampen your enthusiasm, and obviously I know nothing about your running ability and fitness levels, but it is recommended that you consolidate your runs for 3 weeks before going on to a longer duration. This is to allow the body to get used to running and prevent injuries. This plan is also for people who are happy running 5k. Do read the link that the admin IanodaTruffe sent you after you graduated from C25k. I don’t want you to start too soon and end up on the Injury Couch. Believe me it’s not a good place to be, I’ve been there. My advice would be to do that consolidation first, try a Parkrun if you haven’t already and get some miles in before going on the bridge to 10k. As Oldfloss says, you have plenty of time to get to 10k so don’t rush it.
Thank for the advice Dexy5, it is appreciated but I have to say my enthusiasm feels like it’s had a whole bath of cold water poured on it 😕 ‘why bother’ gremlin is back and bigger than ever.
Fitness wise, I also swim twice a week (800m in 30 mins), do a session of weights and always do a good 5/6mins stretch session after each run. I don’t get stitches, cramps (apart from the start of my first treadmill run) or DT’s when running, or after.
I’ve read the admin post already but feel that I’m ready to move forward and although I’m slow I don’t feel I struggle with 5k.
The park run is part of my plan, that will be one of my 5K runs, the other 4/5k locally in the morning and the longer run on the treadmill in an evening.... so that I have more time and if I feel that I can’t achieve the full length of the run I’m not committed to going the whole distance and can go straight into cool down. Also planning on adapting the second 8k and 9k to 8.5 and 9.5 so it’s a gentler transition. I’ve got a pt session still to use at my gym and I’m going to discuss how to add more core work to my week as I believe from reading other posts that will really help.
I have no intention on pushing myself so far that I get injured and I’m definitely not going to be rushing, my reply to oldflow was Absolutely.
Over the past few weeks I’ve been following people, similar to me, that were in week 7/8 when I started and they have made it over the bridge, one in less weeks 😳but that won’t be me. I appreciate that we are all different but they have done it and I will too.
Will let you know how I get on tomorrow with my 5.5k run.... 🤔best remember to pack my really big gremlin slaying sword 🗡 with my gym kit 👟😁
Sorry if I brought the gremlins in. You know your body best so go for it. I didn’t know whether you had read the advice on the site and were moving on before doing 5k. All the best with it - let’s hope it is magical 🏃♀️😃
