Hello peeps. Not posted on this “grown up” forum yet, but seeing as I graduated in May and have been doing lots of 5K runs and a couple of slightly longer ones too, I thought it was time to up my game! I signed up for the 10K plan and managed my first Parkrun today! Still on a high! OK, so I was 684th out of 766 runners (who knew so many people rocked up to these events?!!!!) but managed a time of 37:43 and did well in my old biddy age category. 😂 Onwards and upwards!Good luck to anyone out there who’s thinking of trying a Parkrun. Definitely to be recommended!
First Park Run: Hello peeps. Not posted on... - Bridge to 10K
First Park Run
Hi Cazza. Also just signed up although started a little earlier and on week 4. Glad to see you're still running and obviously enjoying it. Well done on your PR. I've done a couple now and it was great...although don't think ours is quite as busy as yours! See you on the journey to 10k 🏃♀️🏃♀️😀
My goodness Cazza, that’s a good attendance. Which parkrun was that?
Well done on doing your first one today - I try to do it every week now , although I volunteered today instead. The great thing about it is it doesn’t matter if you are old or young , fast or slow, you still get people cheering you on.

Yes, the support and encouragement was amazing! It was the Heaton Park (Manchester) Parkrun - they told us at the “first timers” talk that it averaged between 600 and 900 runners each week! I’d no idea it was so popular!
I’ll definitely be giving it another go soon! 😊
Oh - and well done for volunteering. The whole event wouldn’t function without all those people giving up their time!
It’s fun volunteering too. Although I had to walk to the 2.5 k turning point with the cone and I ended up running some of the way (in jeans) as I was worried I wouldn’t get it in place before the racers got there! Can you imagine what mayhem that would have caused.? 😂
Sounds more like a migration as appose to a park run !!😁
