Nearly 12 months ago to the day I started the C25K program. Since then I have done the program twice, damn near cut out my various BPand heart meds and been told by my asthma doctor at my recent check up that my readings are the best I have had since I started seeing him years ago.
I eat healthier and as such have lost 10kg. I have more energy and I tend to look at things a bit different and also dont listen to myself if ever I tell myself I cant do something.
I now try to find reason why I can go for a run rather than why i cant. Even if it is like this morning and just a 30 minute run.
This mornings run was special because as well as it being nearly my running anniversary it was also my 50th birthday.
Those of you that have had to put up with my inane ramblings this past year know that I like to run early and I like a bit of tourist running. This morning was no exception.
To the sound of sea gulls and lapping waves and foghorns in the mist from the lighthouse I was up and out at 5.30am on a tiny island (population 350) off the coast of Nova Scotia. Stunning.
The 30 minutes sail by when you mentally stop and reflect and how far each of us has come since we started doing this '1 leg in front of the other at a shuffling pace' thing.
I think I may stick with it a bit longer.
Enjoy the journey.

Fab post and such a beautiful, tranquil photo. Happy almost running anniversary and Happy Birthday!
What a life-affirming testament to running. Amazing what a year of running has done for your health, GB. Well done. And happy, happy birthday! I wish you many happy runs and happy birthdays to boot. x
Happy birthday.
I like this story that you've told. It give inspiration to me and I should say many others.
I've been running since early May and as with many runners I found it hard at first.
I have learnt and have been inspired by many people along the way. I've now got to the stage that I look forward to my runs.
I thank you and many others. 😀👍
Thanks for your post and lovely photo. Great news on your good health too. I think running teaches me patience and determination. I like that ! Happy birthday
An excellent post Gingerbohemian. It sounds like c25k has been a life-changing move for you. I hope I can get off the BP tablets too although so far Drs seem to think that once on them they don’t like to take you off.
Congratulations on your runniversary and your big 5 0.
Happy birthday and near runniversary. What a lovely picture! My mom is from a small hamlet in Nova Scotia that I haven’t been to since a teenager but long to go back someday. I can smell the salt in the air and hear the seagulls 😊. Thank you for sharing!
Beautiful photo, but beautiful story as well. Happy (belated) birthday, happy (nearly) runniversary, and may there be many more of them! - birthdays and runniversaries, that is
What a fab post. You've made so many life changes in a relatively short period of time. A huge well done to you, Happy Birthday for yesterday and Happy Runniversary for your first year of this running thing.
That's a beautiful photo, I'm sure it was idyllic to run there.
Wow, what a lovely post..happy 50th birthday GingerBohemian ...it was my birthday on Friday...time for reflecting on life, I also look at things differently since I started running, life is so short and we have to make the most of it...sounds like you had the perfect start to your birthday, I was canoeing down the Dordogne sipping champagne!!...I’m also tourist running at the moment & I have to say, I love it too...hot air balloon ride next week for me, I’ve always wanted to do it but never been brave enough...but that was in my previous life...enjoy your birthday celebrations...I’ve loved your ‘ramblings’ over the last 12 months, very entertaining, I like the fact that no matter where we are in the world we can all come together on here & share our stories...long may it continue xx
Beautiful beautiful. What an idyllic and peaceful place to be - happy 50th and runniversary and thanks for transporting me to somewhere so stunning! 🎉 🎂 🎊 🏃 😊
