So the hot weather has passed and has been replaced by gusty winds and heavy thunderstorms.
I set out this afternoon intending to do 10 to 12k but felt good and ended up doing 18km for my second longest run. The route was out from Dinnington, past Big Waters nature reserve, up through Wideopen and Hazelrigg to Newcastle airport at which point I was buzzed by both an RAF Typhoon and the Red Arrows returning from the Sunderland air show.
Back home via Wideopen and Big Waters with a massive thunderstorm rumbling in the distance but I was lucky and just got caught in the edge of it.
Very very happy to go that distance at an average pace under 7 mins per km and I managed to do the 12th kilometre in 5 minutes 55 seconds as I got a second wind.
One of the good ones today.
Run happy, run safe.
